Her name

was Maria, but she went by Maja. His father

was a salesman and a engineer

who started a manufactoring company

for electrical equipment. His mother stayed at

home with the children. As a child, Einstein took

music lessons in both violin and piano. In 1894,

Einstein's father made a mistake in his company

and had to move his family to Italy. Einstein stayed

in Germany to finish out boarding school,

however he was lonely and soon left the school

and joined his family. After he Italy, he

moved to Switzerland to finish his schooling.

Although

his parents were Jewish, he began his schooling in

the Catholic Elementary School. He then transferred

to Luitpold Gymansium where he stayed until he was

15. In 1889, the Einstein family had Max Talmud,

a polish medical student over for dinner

every Thursday night. He became Einstein's

informal tutor for higher math and philosphy. He did not

ever complete high school. Instead, he went straight to

taking the entrance exam for a university.

Einstein was not able to find a job with his

teaching degree after he graduted. In 1902,

he finally found a job with the Swiss Patent

Office. This started his career, and his

mathematical career. In 1905, he earned his

PHD. This year he also published four

ground break papers on the photelectric

effect (light can be changed to electricity,)

Brownian motion (the movement of particles

in a fluid,) special relativity, and equivalence

of matter and energy. This brought him

fame in the science world. Also while working

in the patent office, he was able to read over

patents for electro-magnetic devices. By

doing so, it gave him time to think about the

tramissions of electrical signals, something

he had been interested in for a few years.

Here he realized that light traveling at the

speed of sound remained constant

although it contridicted Issac

Newton's law of motion.

In 1915 Einstein determined that neither time, mass nor weight

are ever constant. When objects move at a high speed,

mass, weight and time are compressed. The only thing

that remains the same is the speed of light. This led to

the famous equation E=mc squared. Energy equals mass

times the speed of light squared. This was the theory

of relativity. This theory was confirmed in 1919 by an astronomer

who observed this theory during the solar eclipse and is one of

the biggest things that made Einstein famous.
