For the first week, we had a simple introduction between the Usrah member.

The topic for this week is :

-Manners in seeking knowledge

-Al-quran is a guidance for our life

This week, we were given the opportunity to give a favourite Qur'anic verse and explain how the verse provides guidance for everyday life. My favourite Qur'anic verse is verse 5 from surah al-insyirah. That verse gave me encouragement that indeed every difficulty must have an ease. I believe that in every hardship that I experience there will be a facility that Allah gives.

Then, we also discussed about manners in seeking knowledge. There are various manners of seeking knowledge, among them, the intention to study for Allah's sake, respect the teacher, always be patient and sincere and others. The manners of seeking knowledge are very important to get the blessing of knowledge and achieve Allah's pleasure.

For the second week of Usrah, we had a discussion about the pillar of Islam based on Hadith Jibril.

This hadith is one of the 40 hadiths of the Nawawi. There are four important aspects based on Hadith Jibril which is Pillars of Islam, Pillars of Iman, Ihsan, and the sign of the Day of Judgement. In this hadith, Jibril came to the Prophet Muhammad to teach the Prophet Muhammad companions about Islam.

This hadith also teach us about :

1. Comprehensive Understanding of Islam:

This hadith summarizes the entire structure of Islam by discussing three fundamental dimensions: Islam (outward practices), Iman (inward beliefs), and Ihsan (spiritual excellence). It teaches that to be a complete Muslim, one must not only follow the outward practices but also strengthen inner faith and seek to perfect one’s spiritual consciousness.

2. Importance of Sincere Worship:

The concept of Ihsan, or worshiping Allah as though you can see Him, reminds us that our relationship with Allah should be based on sincerity and mindfulness. This means performing every action, particularly worship, with a deep awareness of Allah’s presence and omni

science.

3.Encouraging Continuous Learning:

The method by which Jibril approached the Prophet Muhammad SAW and asked questions shows the importance of learning through inquiry. It encourages Muslims to seek knowledge and clarify their understanding of faith through asking questions, learning, and teaching others.

Conclusion :

In essence, the Hadith of Jibril teaches us to live a balanced life, harmonizing outward actions, inward belief, and spiritual excellence, while constantly seeking knowledge, remaining humble, and preparing for the Hereafter.

For the sixth week, we had a discussion about definition of Adab and Akhlak.

As we know, Adab and Akhlak are 2 different things. Let's look at the difference from a definition point of view.

Adab :

refers to proper manners, etiquette, and conduct in various social and personal situations. It encompasses respect, politeness, and appropriate behavior in dealing with others, reflecting how one carries oneself in public and private life according to Islamic teachings.

Akhlak :

refers to moral character and ethics. It is the broader concept of inner virtues and moral qualities that shape a person’s actions, like honesty, patience, kindness, and integrity. Akhlak is more about the moral principles that guide behavior.

For this week, we also discussed adab with parents.

For example, In surah maryam ayah 42-47, we can see that manners of Prophet Adam with his father.

1. Gentleness and Respect: Ibrahim begins the conversation with the respectful address, "O my father" (يَا أَبَتِ), a term that shows affection and honor. Even though his father is deeply involved in idol worship, Ibrahim doesn’t confront him with harsh words or condemnation but speaks with kindness and respect.

2. Polite Reasoning: Ibrahim presents logical arguments in a gentle and patient way. He explains why worshiping idols is misguided, emphasizing that these idols can neither hear nor benefit anyone. He offers reasoned explanations to guide his father away from idolatry, using respectful language to present his points.

3. Compassion: Ibrahim shows concern for his father’s well-being, expressing fear that his father’s actions will lead him astray. He says, "O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful", expressing both love and

worry.

4. Patience in Rejection: When his father reacts angrily and threatens to stone him, Ibrahim remains calm. Instead of retaliating or becoming defensive, he responds with, "Peace be upon you" (سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكَ). He prays for his father’s forgiveness and chooses to distance himself peacefully from the situation.

This interaction highlights Prophet Ibrahim’s remarkable adab: he shows respect, uses wise reasoning, and maintains compassion and patience, even when his father rejects his message. It serves as a timeless lesson in how to engage in disagreements with respect and care, especially with family members.

Lastly, it is important to avoid praying while holding in the urge to relieve oneself, whether for major or minor needs, as this discomfort can effect concentration.

Today, in our usrah session, I learned about the significance of fasting in Ramadan. In Islam, fasting was made compulsory in the second year after hijrah, as stated in surah al-Baqarah verse 183, which emphasizes that fasting is prescribed to cultivate piety.

Fasting requires muslim to abstain from food, drink and invalidating actions from down until sunset. More than just physical restraint, it teaches patience and self control. Islam also provides concessions for those unable to fast, such as the sick and travelers, who may make up for it later, while those with chronic conditions can pay fidyah.

The wisdom behind fasting includes training patience, increasing piety ang expiating sins. It strengthens discipline and encourages additional worship like Quran recitation and zikir.

Ramadan is also special as the month when the Quran was revealed. Muslims are encouraged to increase their recitation and reflection upon it. After a month of fasting, Eid al - fitr is celebrated as a day of gratitude and victory .

Today i learned about zakat. Zakat is the fourth pillar of Islam, obligatory for every capable Muslim. In the Quran, Allah often pairs the command for prayer (salah) with zakat, highlighting the importance of both our relationship with Him and our responsibilities towards others. Sometimes, zakat is also referred to as sadaqah, signifying that it is not merely an act of charity but a means of purifying both wealth and the soul.

By giving zakat, one cleanses their wealth from greed and selfishness while strengthening their reliance on Allah. Some may fear losing their wealth, but in reality, zakat brings blessings and increases sustenance.
