Nanjing was the first primary capital between around 1368-1420 and later went on to become a secondary capital of Ming China. In relation to these various voyages Zhang He ventured on, Nanjing was responsible for the production of all the treasure ships along with many other ships and needs for these voyages. This was not captured as Chinese territory until 1381 when Zheng He became Chinese soldier. This might have contributed to the fact he is Muslim not a confcious. Also quite obviously due to being captured he became a soldier and got to know Zuh Di giving him a head up when being chosen to lead the fleet.

Initially it was thought that Zheng He would not be prepared enough to lead this fleet. This was due to his age of being 35. But when it came down to it they predicted he would b a good fit. This could have been due to Zheng He knowing Zuh Di from young age. But Zheng He looked like a serious man so people believed he would play a great role as the treasure fleet commander.
Zheng He not the commander was to travel the seas and he did this under the seal of the emperor. He go out to acquire tributes, spread influence, trade, and bring back goods exotic to china. But he was not some errand boy. The respect that was garnered for the crew of this ship was produced vastly with parties, jewels, food, and fun. Zheng He must have received a lot of respect for the work he did.

This is where they traded different goods including spices, silk, wood, gold, silver, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, and a precious pepper, worth the amount of gold. Zhang He’s first voyage was meant to re-open the Indian Ocean trade and to make up relationships with other merchants and buyers and to make up for all the time they had.
