The Australian economy was severely struggling due to the lack of workers, which then resulted in a lack of businesses, and as a result of that a loss of income, which stopped income and killed the economy. They also described Australia as the land of oppurtunity, which with the unemployment in Britain would attract many British citizens to Australia.
