I believe this kind of learning to be in the closest relationship to the definition of "meaningful learning".
1. Throughout my college journey, I have had to apply this kind of learning many many times, as I know all students have to do. I have had to make myself sit down and do my best to learn the material I was supposed to be learning.
2. This past week, I have witnessed parents of children that go to the school I work at do their best to read over the paper work in order to understand what is expected of their children as well as themselves. This, no doubt, was very tedious and took a lot of self-control and planning.

I like to think of this one as one of the most fun kinds of learning! You get to put yourself in "real-world" situations and figure those situations out.
1. I had a personal finance class in high school. My teacher would give us each budgets and then she would give us crazy emergency situations (flat tire, broken arm, fallen tree, etc) that we had to figure out and manage our money around. It was one of the most enjoyable classes I have ever experienced!
2. I would assist in a third-grade classroom and I noticed how most of the word problems in math had to do with real-life materials. This, I believe, helped the kids gain a little bit of perspective when it comes to figuring out how to solve certain issues.

This kind of learning is fun for a few, but maybe not so fun for those who do not enjoy being social. This will, however, help those who are not so social in the long run.
1. When I first started college, I had a class that wanted you to get up and introduce yourself to everyone, as well as find a partner to work with in the class. This helped me learn how to deal a little better in social situations.
2. I witnessed an activity in the school I work in where the teacher would put the students in groups and have them walk around and figure problems out together. This method of having problems in common and helping each other figure those problems out brought these students closer together and they were friends in no time.

Constructive

This kind of learning is one that not many people think too much into. However, it is very crucial in the world of human development. It is how we better ourselves as learners and teachers.
1. The first experience I will list that has to do with this kind of learning is when I was a child, I loved to draw. My father is an incredibly talented artist. I would always go to him and show him my drawings because I wanted him to be proud of how good I did. Oftentimes, he would point things out that I could do in order to make it better next time. This helped me improve in my artistic abilities.
2. The second experience I have had with constructive learning was when a Pre-K student had showed me their work and it was decent enough, but it did have some issues. I gently pointed out that, "It looks great! But how much better do you think it would look if..."

I have witnessed this kind of learning quite a bit in not only the classroom, but also my own life.
1. The first experience I will name off is a time when I was babysitting my one-year old cousin and he was playing with a toy. He knew that it was supposed to make sounds, and he investigated the toy, shaking it and pulling on it until it yielded the desired result for him.
2. The second experience from this week, actually where I have seen active learning was actually with all these teachers who had to actively learn how to use technology and zoom a little more than they normally do. They would play around with their computers and experiment with different things in order to see what would work and what wouldn't work.
