Beauty is on the inside, and although one is outwardly beautiful, their personality makes or breaks their character.
- "I will so pluck your plumes as you shall say no more" (Queen Elizabeth, 11). Cupid threatens the Queen, stating that he will take away her beauty so she is no longer able to treat her suitors the way she does.
- "As soon as he had said, such change grew in my breast, That neither night nor day I could take any rest" (Queen Elizabeth, 13-14). After Cupid's threat, the Queen cannot stop thinking of how she has been acting. She knows that she is beautiful, but the way she treats people is unacceptable.
- "Wherefore I did repent that I had said before: Go, go, go, seek some other where, importune me no more" (Queen Elizabeth, 15-16). The Queen regrets each time she has ever told a man to leave her alone because she realizes how bitter she has been to the suitors who seek her love.
