a) What did I learn on this topic?

I learned that digital literacy is a set of skills for creating, sharing, and using information wisely through digital tools. I studied two frameworks: Pegrum’s four skill sets (Language, Information, Connections, Re(design)) and Belshaw’s eight elements (cultural, cognitive, constructive, communicative, confident, creative, critical, and civic). I also learned that teachers should not only create and evaluate digital content but also help learners think, create, and act responsibly online.

b) How does this connect with what I already know or have experienced?

It connects with my experience of using Microsoft PowerPoint 2013. For example:

• Designing slides links to Pegrum’s R

• Explaining ideas with visuals connects to Language and Communicative.

• Selecting content carefully reflects Cognitive and Critical.

• Sharing presentations to an audience relates to Civic.
  

c) What could have been done differently to teach this topic?

The group reading was useful, but I think visual aids like diagrams, charts, or concept maps would have made the frameworks easier to understand.

a) What did I learn on this topic?
I learned that digital citizenship includes more than just using the internet—it involves being responsible, ethical, and safe online. The study highlighted nine key areas, like digital law, etiquette, and commerce, and showed how students practiced these during remote learning. I realized the importance of understanding our digital rights and responsibilities.

b) How does this connect with what I already know or have experienced?

 I regularly use digital tools for learning, shopping, and socializing. This connects directly with the study's findings, especially in digital commerce and communication. It also made me reflect on how I can improve my digital etiquette and awareness.

c) What could have been done differently to teach this topic?
I think Interactive methods like real-life scenarios or role-play could make learning more engaging. Including interviews would also give deeper insight into students’ personal digital experiences.

a) What did I learn on this topic?

 I learnt about different theories of the use of technology such as computers, mobile devices, and software applications.  Also, Different learning processes that include all digital tools which rely in computer system. Additionally, I wonder how technology can positively affect students' learning in many educational settings like cognitive,  meta-cognitive and affective across all age groups and for both male and female students. Therefore, there are many theories like behaviorism, connectivism, constructivism, interactionist theory as well. 

b) How does this connect with what I already know or have experienced?

I had a course named “Second language acquisition” and “Principle and methods of ELT” where I came to know about all these theories. Also, in this world,  technology is used everywhere in all those skills regarding listening, speaking, reading and writing. I had done my first semester with all these courses.  Those course gave me knowledge about how technology enhances language learning  

c) What could have been done differently to teach this topic? 

Modern information and communication technology could have been associated with pedagogical systems and teachers can use smart boards, mp3 players for better understanding and interaction.

4. Technology for developing reading skills

a) What did I learn on this topic?

I learnt about the intentional use of digital tools to enhance the essential components of reading such as phonemic awareness, decoding fluency,  vocabulary comprehension and motivation. For instance,  e-books, apps,  multimedia, assistive devices, m-learning,  AR/VR as well.

b) How does this connect with what I already know or have experienced?

 During COVID-19 when teachers used to take online classes, they told us to use apps like youtube for learning purposes. Also, at the tertiary level,  there are some assignments which can't be done without technology.  That's how I connect with this. 

c) What could have been done differently to teach this topic? 

 I think assistive reading platforms such as graph games or i-pad based fluency tools could have been included to teach this topic.

a) What did I learn on this topic?

 I learnt about  Linguistic Feedback Tools (LiFTs) Ginger and Grammarly that help students correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Also, English Correcting Websites and  Online tools like Spell check plus improve accuracy and confidence. Besides, I learnt about Email Writing and Journals, Word Processors and CALL Software.
They are especially helpful in my process of writing with learning needs.

In my writing course in the first semester I used many apps and websites like IELTS Liz,  YouTube for making my writing quality better in terms of essay and report writing, paraphrasing and so on.

I think teachers can give homeworks of writing like essays and reports and give feedback by using grammarly, ginger and other correction websites.

I learned that technology provides diverse tools like video conferencing, social media, speech recognition, podcasts, and digital storytelling to improve fluency, accuracy, confidence, and real-world speaking practice. It not only reduces anxiety but also encourages autonomous learning and engagement.

b) How does this connect with what I already know or have experienced?

It connects with my own experience of using Zoom for class discussions, WhatsApp for casual practice, and YouTube podcasts to follow accents. These tools made speaking practice more natural and interactive than traditional drills.

The lesson could have included live demonstrations of tools (e.g., using a speech recognition app or creating a short podcast) so that the benefits became more practical and hands-on.

 I learnt about various digital tools such as podcasts application, radio news,  MALL, audiobooks, multimedia technology, speech recognition and language apps that enhance listening skills.

While improving my listening skills, I use some apps like learna, duolingo and youtube that helps me to improve my listening skills.

I believe including some listening quizzes and tests may help better learning for students.

I learned that social media is not just for fun but also helpful in ELT. It improves four skills, digital literacy, intercultural learning, and needs active participation.

It connects with my own use of Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and WhatsApp. I watch videos, join groups, and practice writing. I already knew English is a lingua franca, now I see how it works in real life.

It could be taught better by using real class blogs or online groups, so we practice directly instead of only reading.

I learned that a corpus is a collection of authentic texts, and concordances are tools that show how words appear in real contexts. They help in understanding frequency, collocation, and usage patterns.

It connects with my past experience of learning vocabulary and grammar through examples. Now I see how corpora provide real-life evidence instead of relying only on rules or intuition.

It connects with my use of Google Assistant and Duolingo, where AI corrected my pronunciation and encouraged me to speak more naturally.
