I remember how you would work the graveyard and return home in time to take me to school, even though I could see the heavy bags under your eyes. And now I will make sure to pay that love forward because I know that loving means the hard times too.

I stand on the shoulders of Javier, Cynthia, Leticia, and Cecilia because they all did what they could to unsure me and my cousins could have a better life. They came to this country and worked as much they could to support each other and the family. And now I will do everything I can to make a life for myself and repay them for everything they did for me.

I mostly didn't get to spend time with my mom because she was so busy and was working hard to get money in order to pay the bills.
