Target Audience

The target audience will be around university students to middle-aged people, mostly a male audience. The target may not have an ad blocker installed or have been even aware of what it is.
I plan to grab their attention by showing a relatable situation which may consist of a pop up block annoying a viewer which then I can introduce to my product and show how superior it is compared to other related products.

This research talks about the concerns around privacy on online advertising and the impact of online tracking and targeting methods used. This source was useful because it showed me that I needed to be concern about the amount of data collected by these online advertisers.

This research goes into the different countermeasures that ad-supported websites use due to the rapid spread of adblockers. It also looked at the influences of why people are starting to downloading adblockers from the rampant ads. This helped me find out the target audience and message of my advert.

My intend is for a simple, yet effective message to use my product. One of the most iconic fonts to me is used by Apple in their marketing. This font is a custom sans serif by Apple called San Francisco. However, this typeface is licensed by Apple. So, I will be unable to use this for commercial use. Therefore, I will be using alternative free to use fonts that are similar. To do this, I am going on Google Fonts.

Before my target audience has seen the video, they might feel it is just another random advertisement of a random product that is useless to them.
I want the opposite reaction when they have viewed the video. I want the audience to be excited and relieved that this product exists.
I will need to convey a disappointing mood first to relate to the situation of my target audience. Once I get their attention, I will present my product with an uplifting vibe.
To do this, bright warm colours, like orange, yellow, red and pink, are used to present happy and optimistic emotions. While blue colours are normally associated with low energy feelings like disappointment, sadness, discouragement, hopelessness and loneliness.

White Hat: I will need to analyse the problem of intrusive and annoying ads and benefits of an adblocker to craft my message.
Red Hat: Feelings of frustrations and annoyance are emotions tied to when seeing an ad. That is why when the audience sees that there is a solution to this problem, I am sure that they will be happy.
Green Hat: To be creative with the design of my ad, I will be using simple graphics and animation to highlight the simplicity of the product.

Attention - As said in the tone of my message, I want to start with a disappointing and relatable story to an optimistic one. I want the typography to be visually attending and using the bold and warm colours will help. Also, having graphics and animation help keep the audience engage.

Interest - I intend to grab my audiences attention by beginning with a relatable visualisation of my target audience. This highlights the problem of the excessive amount of advertisements online which then I can introduce my adblocker which can solve that problem.

Desire - The familiarity with the situation allows for a desire for audiences to at least try out. I will demonstrate the main features of the product and emphasise on the benefits of these features.

Action - Like the Brave Browser advert, the advert will be fast-paced with the typography that I picked out. There will be clear and concise message of how easy it is to download my adblocker.

This short 30-second video will showcase how easy and superior my adblock extension is.
It starts with calm classical music as the character enjoys listening. Then, many visual pop-ups and video adverts are shown to annoy the character. This will then introduce my product to the character and the audience.
First, I show how easy it is to download. Next, I will use strong and convincing language to explain what the product does. I will let the audience know that they will now experience a faster, cleaner, and safer browsing experience with the adblocker.
At the end, I will ask the audience to download the adblocker today and enjoy the internet without any interruptions.

I chose a red and yellow colour scheme because as said before about the colour theory and meaning behind these warm colours. These warm colours are to give an optimistic vibe to my advert. I also chose red because it represents a stop sign like stopping the ads from coming on to the browser experience.
