This feature is important. Without writing noting else can be possible. No jobs can be assigned, no religion can be established because nobody can read the holy book. Attached is a picture of the Roman Colosseum in Rome, Italy. This piece of architecture classifies as a feature of civilization because this "building" embodies and symbolizes Italy. The Colosseum, in ancient times, was a site where many Romans came together and watched cruel battles to the death. Although barbaric, this building is a great representation of the Italian culture. The Colosseum is stilled viewed in modern times as a building that is has a tremendous exterior, with a historic interior. This facade embodies the Italian culture, allowing tourists to view the inside, inhabited by walls that ancient gladiators must hurdle over to achieve freedom. Commercially, the Colosseum also brings in revenue to the Italian government, who accepts money from tourists. This picture is a great example of the feature system of writing. This is a linear script of symbols. This represents a particular "Feature of Civilization" because this shows a pictogram which is when pictures tell a story. This was how people used to communicate without words, and represents writing.

I think this is interesting because you can get a representation of how relevant a civilization is by the size of their city. This image is of Manhattan and is a good representation of a Americas power and how it is growing and growing with power, is commercial, and shows the economy of America.

The government is the most important feature. Without government there is no one making huge choices that can change lives. Also, without government there is no laws and no people to enforce the laws so everyone is doing whatever they want and getting away with it. The image that I have chosen is a picture of the Empire State Building. The Empire State Building is in New York City. The feature of civilization that the picture represents is Art and Architecture. This building was built and is now an iconic, and popular tourist spot. This building is not only a popular spot to tourists but to the people who live there too. You can actually visit the building and go inside. Art and Architecture is a very important feature of civilization because certain buildings and art will clue future civilizations in about the way we lived or previous generations lived and how advanced the previous civilizations were. For example, The Colosseum was built by the ancient Romans. Jewish were discriminated against and people tried to kill them during the holocaust and many were killed.

I chose systems of writing, and shown is an image of early cuneiform written onto a page. Early humans used this type of writing to get a message across to each other before full languages were adapted and perfected.
