         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1961, these three countries applied to join however due to Englands close relationship with the US, the French President vetoed the English Application.&nbsp;Ireland and Denmark removed their applications due to the fact that they were close trading partners with England. The three countries reapplied in 1969 after the French President had been removed from office and they became members in 1973. </div>]]></description>
