Tattoos were utilized by the people of Panay to show their battle record. The more tattoos a man has on his body, the more respected he is as a warrior. The pinado practice's beauty has elevated tattooing to the level of art, with order, symmetry, and harmony. This work of art has sparked adoration. While males get tattoos all over their bodies, women, as a general, only have tattoos on one side of their arms.

CONTENT:

Based on my analyzation, the art tattooing in Panay has a subjective meaning where the artwork might have several interpretations depending on who is examining it. As for the people of Panay it is practiced to honor battles or to showcase the status of men as a warrior.

Back in 1925, Edades entered in the Annual Exhibition of North American Artists in Seattle, Washington, where his piece, "The Sketch," received second place in 1927. The artwork, according to Edades, were a total break from the typical Impressionistic and Realistic works of art, which were customarily portrayed in polished detailing and visual authenticity. He was so taken with the modernist style that he began to paint in that way. This new method gave him the flexibility to fill his canvases with creative expressions in his own unique manner.
