All together we gathered 25 responses for this question with a range of answers. In order to gather the most accurate information in relation to a number of renewable energies we listed 5 options including; Wind, Solar, Hydroelectric, Geothermal, Biomass, as well as, All of them and Other in which we asked for them to specify.

56% of responses answered that they thought all of them would be important to the future of the environment and could possible adopted widely depending.

Solar and Hydroelectric were next with 20%, and 16% respectively. As well as Wind and Other however they did not specify were both answered once.

Majority of the participants involved in the survey that answered yes to being an international students answered all of the above to this question. This could be for a range of reasons simply this being their opinion due to personal experiences, individual research, or choosing the option they believe is “correct ” or another reason. However, this survey was intended to be an opinion based poll and thus has no correct answers.

A number of participants also chose not to answer this question possible because it is the last one and they got bored.

This shows that over 50% of students rated their understanding of climate change in the ‘middle’ or what may be ‘average’.

This is below the average of all participants with a majority voting their understanding a 4/5 on the scale provided. This was 15 of the 26 responses.

From this data we can conclude International students may be disadvantaged or have a lower average understanding of the issue of climate change and possibly similar topics such as renewable energy. Having a limited knowledge of one of the most important crisis facing this generation may impact the individual’s future literacy abilities.

Additionally, an outlier we observed is the individual who rated their understanding of climate change a zero and this person was not an international student.

The extensive utilization of renewable energy sources can effectively mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and the risk of climate change. Consequently, future generations will reside in a more stable climate with a reduced possibility of extreme weather and natural disasters.

In addition, the utilization of renewable energy sources reduces the necessity for the exploitation of natural resources, such as oil, gas, and coal, which are finite resources that result in significant environmental pollution, including the contamination of the atmosphere and bodies of water. The transition to renewable energy sources represents a reduction in the dependence on finite resources and the necessity for their exploitation.

Furthermore, the use of renewable energy is important due to its capacity to generate a multitude of economic benefits. These include the creation of employment opportunities and the attraction of investment.

Renewable energy is a cleaner and more sustainable energy than fossil fuel and will not produce harmful gases like carbon dioxide during the process of burning. The use of renewable energy will reduce the emission of greenhouse gases which can help release global warming, one of the serious problems of climate change. What's more, since the energy is renewable, the use of it can ensure the safety of energy. The traditional energy people use is fossil fuels like coal, which need a long time to form. These can both make contributions to sustainable development and make our earth a better place. Due to its positive effects, renewable energy is now being applied in many areas like electricity. A lot of countries have set the policy and goals to put into force renewable energy. Renewable energy also be propagandized to make people aware of its significance.

From the survey, 69.2% of participants rated 5 that deferring to renewable energy is extremely important and 30.8% of them chose 4 which means renewable energy is important. Only 11.5% of the participants chose 3 which means neutral. The percentage of respondents' thoughts on whether renewable energy will play an important in future sustainable development is 100%. Most of the participants have recognized how significant renewable energy is and its importance in future sustainable development. Moreover, 65.4% of the respondents have stated that the country they are from has a policy related to renewable energy. This can also reflect the importance of renewable energy. It is adopted and promoted by more and more areas in the world.

The first type of positive effect is that the use of renewable energy can help release environmental problems. “Can reduce air pollution", "decrease effects of climate change", "Hopefully to maintain the ecosystem of the world" and so on...... A lot of replies have mentioned the use of renewable energy will reduce pollution and release environmental problems like climate change. Renewable energy is a cleaner energy that will not produce greenhouse gases when burning. It reduces the wasting and can help build a better environment for people to live.

The second type of positive effect is related to economic profits. One person has said "Lower power bills" and another one pointed out "more accessible energy/cheaper". Renewable energy sources get power from the natural environment in an accessible way. It doesn't like the traditional energy which needs a long time to form and requires great cost to mine. The low cost of collecting made renewable energy cheaper to get and this will bring benefits like lower people's bill. Also, due to its easy accessibility, renewable energy can be used and promoted in wide ranges. What's more, it can create job opportunities for people since it's a new type of energy. It needs researchers, needs workers to install it. These will both contribute to making a more equal and sustainable society.

Last is not least, the third type is about future generations. One respondent stated, "Make me more confident in future generations/my children's ability to live comfortably on this world." The earth is not just the home for us. We are responsible for protecting it and transmitting it to the next generation. Using renewable energy can allow us have a chance to release environmental problems and making the earth a better planet to live.

The survey was designed in such a way in which the first question aimed to understand the respondents’ positionality and thus differentiations in the possible life experiences in relation to climate change and renewable energy. Question one was as follows “Are you an international student?”

By using Google forms, it presented us with a visual representation of the the answers to this question in the form of a pie graph.

From the students whom took the survey we can see that just under 77% of them were not international students. Meaning they could be locally from within the City of Melbourne, be from country Victoria or Domestic students from any of Australia’s states and territories. However, we chose to only look at individuals from Australian in comparison to other countries internationally. We found that just over 23% of the responses were from international students meaning they could have vastly different opinions, life experiences and positionalities to each other and possible local students.

From this question we can analyse that a large majority of the individuals who participated in our research were from Australia and thus the counties experiences with climate change and renewable energy. We understand that the data is not evenly distributaries between the two distinct categories and intent to take this into consideration when analysing the data. It may result in possible daisies, as well as our own research group holding biases to either side from their own life experiences.

Climate change is a global public problem that requires urgent attention. Addressing climate change is one of the keys to the protection of the planet and the survival of humankind. Climate change has led to an increase in extreme weather events, such as persistent droughts leading to crop and water shortages, and heavy rainfall leading to floods and mudslides. These events not only damage the natural environment but also have a serious impact on human life. Therefore, to protect the Earth's ecosystem and maintain the stability of human society, addressing climate change is a very necessary option. The following measures can be taken to reduce and prevent the hazards caused by climate change:

-Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adopting renewable energy sources (such as solar, wind, and water), improving energy efficiency, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions such as carbon dioxide.

-Strengthening the protection of forests and oceans, enacting relevant laws to raise public awareness, prohibiting illegal logging, reducing wastewater discharge, and protecting the renewability of forest resources and marine biodiversity.

-Reducing the use of single-use plastic products, encouraging the use of biodegradable alternatives, and promoting plastic recycling and reuse;

-Raising public awareness of the climate crisis and the protection of the environment, and launching publicity campaigns to foster public action for environmental protection.

The adoption of renewable energy is crucial to achieving the sustainable development goal. Most people have recognized the importance of this. Society should take action together to make better use of renewable energy and contribute to building a better planet for generations.

We can interoperate that a majority if not all of our research participants have future literacy skills and thus can imagine a utopian future in which renewable energy plays a crucial role

Whilst protesting is perhaps one of the most visible forms of showcasing worry about the climate it is not the only method, as has been explained.

This does reflect the emergence of students as an active force utilizing their own agency however, tying into the development of new futures. However a more effective example can be found in protests.
