Student's Name: Ane Portugal
BOOK REPORT:
Book title: Pride and Prejudice
Author: Jane Austen
Main characters: Mr and Mss Bennet (parents); Elizabeth, Jane and Lydia Bennet (daughters); Charles Bingley (rich man); Mr Darcy (Charles´ best friend).

Story Setting: The story was set in the 19th century in a rural England, in which there were many differences between poor and rich society. Rich people used to live in big estates and poor people worked for them.
There was a big difference between men and wimen; men were allowed to do everything they wanted; wimen instead, could only stay at home trying to make their husbands happy.
Engagements were made by families in order to obtain a big amount of money. A rich person could not marry a poor one as this one could not give any money to the other one. Moreover, it would be a dishonor for the whole family.

Plot: Mrs Bennet was a mother whose dream was to see her five daughters married with rich men. She was glad that a new not married and rich neighbour has arrived, because it existed the possibility that he got engaged with one of their daughters. All the family was invited to a party were Jane was able to meet Mr Bingley (the new neighbour) and fall in love with him. Some days later, she was invited by Charles sister to their house, but in the trip she got ill and had to stay there for a few days. In that period of time Elizabeth went to visit her as she was worried and was able to meet Charles best friend: Mr Darcy.
When the two sisters returned home, Mr Bennet told all the family that his cousin, Mr Collins, was going to visit them. Surprisingly, he wanted to marry Jane, but Mrs Bennet told him that she was going soon be engaged by Charles, so she proposed to marry Elisabeth. However, she refused to marry with that man who she did not love.
Mr Wickham was a handsome officer who lived in a nearby town and who had suffered a lot as Mr Darcy had done horrible things to him.
One day, Jane received a letter which said that Charles had gone to London. For that reason, Jane was depressed and decided to spend some time with Mr and Mrs Gardiner (their aunt and uncle).
Elizabeth decided to visit one friend, who was now Mr Collins wife. During her stay, they were all invited to Mr Darcy´s house. Unexpectedly, Mr Darcy proposed marriage to Elizabeth, but astonished, she said no immediately, as she knew what kind of person Mr Darcy was. After that, Elizabeth received a letter from him where he explained that he was not the bad person. He explained that Mr Wickham spent all the money that Mr Darcy´s father had left him and he was still asking more. As he did not obtain anything, he wanted to marry Mr Darcy´s 15-year-old sister to get a fortune from her. But obviously, Mr Darcy did not allow that and for that everybody looked at him as he was the bad guy.
Elizabeth realized that she was wrong and decided to apologize for her thoughts.
Lydia Bennet, and innocent girl scape with Mr Wickham thinking that he loved her. Living with a man without being married was a dishonor for the family, for that reason he asked a lot of money to the Bennet family if they wanted him to marry her in order to improve that situation. Mr Darcy decided to pay that money to help Elizabeth. With that action Elizabeth realized that she was wrong at refusing getting married with him.
At the end, Charles came back and married whit Jane as he always had wanted, and so Elizabeth and Mr Darcy did.

Main events: Mr Collins (Mr Bennet´s cousin) wanted to marry Elizabeth Bennet, but she refused to marry with such a boring man. In the end, Mr Collins married Charlotte, Elizabeth´s friend.
Despite Jane was in love with Mr Bingley, Mr Darcy persuaded Charles not to marry her as she was not suitable for her. However, some years later, everything came to clear and they got engaged.
Mr Darcy, who seemed to be a horrible person in the beginning, was an honorable man who fell in love with Elizabeth.
Elizabeth got the wrong impression about him as Mr Wickham had told her bad things about him. But in the end the situation changed, Mr Wickham wanted to marry Mr Darcy´s young sister to get revenge and Mr Darcy was just a man trying to protect her loving sister. Finally Elizabeth and Mr Darcy got married.
Lydia, one of the youngest and most innocent sisters who was only 16, married with Mr Wickham, who asked for a large amount of money for that marriage and Mr Darcy decided to pay it as he knew that Bennet family did not have much money.

Story conclusion: At the end Mr Bennet almost gets everything she wanted: 3 of her daughters got married!
Elizabeth realized that Mr Darcy was a kind man who had not been treated as he deserved. She changed her mind about him and regretted not accepting his proposal; for that reason she apologized and all the truth came out.
On the other hand, Charles decided to return from London and finally the truth came out another time: Jane and Charles were both bad informed; she thought that he left the town because he was going to marry Mr Darcy´s sister; and Charles left because he thought that Jane did not love him and because he was told that her intention was only to get money.

Write one fact and one opinion about this story: One fact that has called my attention in this book, is the part where Mrs Bennet told her daughter Elizabeth to marry his father cousin. With that scene I believe how the families were at that time; young ladies were forced to marry old men and to serve them their whole life. Girl’s opinions were not considered and it did not matter if they did not love each other or if he was a bad person who might not treat his wife properly; the only thing which mattered was if they had money to live without worrying.
Hopefully that does not happen any more!

How long did it take you to read it? Did you find it difficult to understand?
It took me less than a cople of hours to read it. It was not difficult to read, the vocabulary was easy and it could be easily understood.

Recommend? Why? Why not?
I would recommend this book as it is short and easy to read so it is a good one to start reading in English. Moreover, the story is enternaining and many people would like it.

Your opinion: Did you like the book? What was your favourite part and why? Did you learn anything?
I enjoyed the book a lot! It is a great and fascinating story written in a short way, which is very efficient as is difficult to get bored. One of the parts that I liked the most is when Mr Darcy explains the truth in a letter to Elizabeth. It is a sincere moment where we realize what kind of person Mr Darcy is, and from this moment I started to like him.
I learnt that first impressions should not be as important as they are, as a person might not be as you think for one thing they have done. Apart from that, I learnt how the society of the 19th century was. They could not live as they wanted; they had to follow some strict rules which made their lives unfortunate, such as the obligation to marry with a person they did not love.

The family is not rich. The main concern of Mrs. Bennet’s life is to see that all her daughters are married, preferably to men with large fortunes. She sees an opportunity for her eldest daughter Jane when Mr. Charles Bingley, a wealthy gentlemen from the city, occupies the nearby estate of Netherfield Park. In her excitement, she urges her husband to visit Mr. Bingley on the very first day of his arrival, before any of the other neighbors.
At the next social gathering, Bingley brings along his two sisters, Caroline Bingley and Louisa Hurst, and his friend Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy. Bingley, who is charming and social, is immediately attracted to the modest and gentle Jane Bennet. Darcy, in contrast to Bingley, is proud, rude, and disagreeable. When Bingley suggests that Darcy dance with Elizabeth Bennet, he refuses her.
Jane and Bingley continue to be attracted to one another. During the story the author reflects a common situation that used to take place during the century where the book it´s set, where women who were not rich had to make sure to get engaged to someone with enough money to sustain them and take them out (in many cases from misery). This happened, somehow, as women in that period couldn´t come into the family´s fortune, and therefore they completely depended on their husbands, and any event where single men were attending to turned into a desperate attempt for getting a husband. On the other hand, the book reflects a society which slowly starts to reduces its differences between poor and wealthy people, as events such the one the Bennet sisters attend to, full of the well-to-do it wasn´t a common thing.

PLOT:

Mrs. Bennet, sees the marriage as the only option for her five daughters, as they couldn´t come into the fortune the family possess after Mr. Bennet´s death, and they will be leave high and dry when their cousin Williams Collins will take possession of everything the family owns; (we have to bear in mind that in that period, a woman couldn´t inherit and everything was left for the closest male familiar a family had).

That´s why the day that Mrs. Bennet´s hears the news of the arrival of a single gentleman from the city, can´t avoid to urge her husband to go to meet him so later on, she can introduce one of her daughters, and hopefully marry one of them with him. Although at the beginning nobody really knows him, the rumors that he owns a large fortune don´t take long to spread as seems that he has rented the estate of Netherfield, where he is planning to spend some time with her two sisters (Mrs. Bingley and Mrs. Hurst as well as her brother – in- law Mr. Hurst).

After a short period of time from his arrival, Mr. Bingley and his group accompanied by his close friend Fitzwilliam Darcy, attend to a public event in a town called Meryton, where the five daughters of Mrs. Bennet, don´t doubt to go in order to meet the newcomers.

Even though at the beginning Darcy arouse admiration because of his physical and the huge fortune he owns, quickly people starts to judge him as an arrogant person who mistreats people who belong to lower level in society (and actually, that´s the impression that the young Elizabeth Bennet gets, when by chance hears that the wealthy man doesn´t want to dance with her as she seems to not be pretty enough for him). On the other hand, Mr. Bingley it´s a pleasant man, who dances with a lot of ladies of the place but he specially seems to have gotten attached to Jane Bennet (the oldest of the sisters). After the event, Jane is invited to Netherfield, where she gets pneumonia. In order to take care of her Elizabeth has no more remedy that go to the estate on foot which provokes the mockery of Mr. Bingley´s sisters and admiration on Darcy.

Some days after the event took place, Mr. Collins, who will inherit the assets of the family, visits the family. Following the advice of his employer the countess Lady Catherine of Bourgh, he decides to get marry with one of his cousins, and knowing the fact that the oldest sister might get engaged with Mr. Bingley, Collins asks Elizabeth to marry him, although she rejects him.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth starts feeling attracted to an official who has recently come to the town, called George Wickham, who claims to have been private of his legitimacy by Mr. Darcy, which makes stronger the feeling of rejection he has against Darcy, because of the prejudices she had towards him. So are the negative feelings she has that when suddenly Bingley decides to return to London, letting Jane down, and explaining only by a letter wrote by Caroline Bingley, that they will be spending the whole winter in London; Elizabeth can´t avoid thinking that Darcy has part of the fault in the decision made by Mr. Bingley.

Time later, when Elizabeth visits her friend Charlotte, who finally has gotten married with his cousin Collins after she rejected him and who knows lives under the control of Darcy´s aunt, Lady Catherine, she surprisingly find him. During their stance together, Darcy ends up announcing his feelings towards her but wounded on her pride after discovering that he has convinced Mr. Bingley so he stopped his relation with Jane and still judging him by what his friend Wickham had told her about Darcy her rejects him.

The following day, Darcy gives her a letter where he explains him that everything he had done, hadn´t been with a bad intention and that if he had told his friend to broke up with Jane had been because he had mix up the discreet behavior of Jane with disinterest and thinking that his friend didn´t mean anything to her. He reveals, nevertheless, the real way of being of Wickham and how he forced him to give all the money he was going to inherent all in once and how after spending it, and seeing he won´t receive more money from him, he tried to escape with Darcy´s young sister Georgiana, in order to get her money but that he left her after knowing that he won´t receive her part of the inherent.

After knowing all the truth, Elizabeth, regrets having rejected Darcy and feels ashamed for what happened.

Later on, Elizabeth goes on holidays with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner, and convince her to visit Pemberley, Darcy´s estate while he isn´t there. Embarrassed still for what happened and after hearing the generous words that the employees of Mr. Darcy use to describe him, Elizabeth can´t feel worst and the least she expect it´s meeting him during her stance in the state as he wasn´t supposed to be there. Her warm behavior with everyone as well as her educated and friendly way he treats them, surprises her and this new concept she gets from him does only increase after seeing Darcy´s protective way of being with his sister.

When she starts having a better relation with Darcy, Elizabeth receives the new that her youngest sister Lydia has scape with Wickham, a relationship without marriage and an illegitimate will break the family´s honour and will reduce the other sisters´ possibilities of getting married. When family starts investigating they discover that Wickham did so in order to avoid debts he had left and going with Lydia it was just a way to scape. When Elizabeth tells the new she has just received to Darcy, this one assumes the mission of finding the official and suborn him so he will get married with Lydia (as he feels responsible of not having revealed Wickham´s real nature on time). Finally he is able to find them in London and incite the man to get married with Lydia by paying their wedding and by giving them money.

Elizabeth accidentally discovers what Darcy has done and her feelings towards him change radically, making her regret completely her actitude and having rejected him, as well as she understands that first impressions made by the pride and the prejudice not always are the right ones; and she has already lost all the hopes on Mr. Darcy proposing to her again after what Lydia had done.

MAIN EVENTS:

- Mrs. Bennet has five unmarried daughters
- A wealthy young gentleman rents the estate of Netherfield
- An event it´s made and Mrs. Bennet daughters as well as the newcomers assist to it.
- Mr. Bingley feels attached to the oldest of the Bennet´s ( Jane ) and during the event Jane get´s a bad impression of the close friend of Mr. Bingley ( Darcy ).
- Jane is invited to Netherfield where she gets sick and Elizabeth has to go to take care of her, which changes a little Darcy´s mind about Elizabeth.
- Some days after the event the girls´cousin proposes to Elizabeth but she rejects him.
- Elizabeth meets George Wickham which tells him his history in where Mr. Darcy appears and does not only but increase the girl´s prejudices.
- Mr. Bingley go back to London and Elizabeth and Darcy annouces his feelings towards him while she was visiting her friend Charlotte but she rejects him.
- The following day she gets a letter from Mr. Darcy telling her the truth about why Mr. Bingley broke up with Jane and the real history of Wickham.
- Elizabeth regrets her actitude with Fitzwilliam, as well as refusing to marry him.
- She meets him again when she is on holidays and discovers a new aspect of him she didn´t know about.
- She receives the new that Lydia has scaped with George but Mr. Darcy solves the problem.
- Lady Catherine tries to change Elizabeth´s mind about Mr. Darcy so she doesn´t marry him.
- She doesn´t get it and both Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley end up getting married with the two sisters.
STORY CONCLUSION:

After what happened, Mr. Bingley comes back to Netherfield, occasion that Mrs. Bennet uses in order to force a meeting between Mr. Bingley and her daughter Jane, and event where Mr. Bingley uses to propose to Jane, so they get married. Meanwhile Lady Catherine discovers the feelings that Darcy has towards Elizabeth, which bothers her and ruins the plans she had of her daughter marrying him; that why, while Darcy is in London, she visits unexpectedly Elizabeth and she tries to pressure her in order to make her claim that she would never get married with Darcy; as Elizabeth doesn´t do so, Lady Catherine tells Darcy what happened which makes him realize that Elizabeth´s feelings have changed, and when we proposes to her for second time he accepts.

Jane y Elizabeth get married and after doing so Elizabeth and Darcy place in Pemberley with Georgiana, who has become her new close friend; after some time, in addition Bingley buy a property near his close friends home for both women happiness. Furthermore, Lydia visit both of them really often but always without Wickham´s presence.

ONE FACT/OPINION:

I found it really curious the fact that in that period women still had to marry men for convenience instead for love; as well as they couldn´t inherit and everything was given to the closest male in the family ( in case they didn´t have any son ) as I find it really unfair, because women as well as men should have the same rights to come into at least a small part of the fortune that the family posessed.

About my opinion I reckon that it has been a really interesting book and I have really liked it because I have always enjoyed romantic stories.

HOW LONG/ DIFFICULTY:

It took me around 2 hours or less to read it. It´s a really easy book, which doesn´t have any difficulties when it comes to vocabulary or grammar and the story it´s a really easy one to follow to.

RECOMMENDATION/REASON:

I would recommend it to anyone who likes romantic novels as well as I said before it doesn´t have any complications when it comes to grammar or vocabulary.

MY OPINION:

I really liked it, specially the part where Mr. Darcy expresses his feeling towards Elizabeths and tells him the truth because that´s where we can see a man completely different as Elizabeth had been reflecting us during the whole story and gives a new perspective from this misterious character.

RATING: *****

Usually rich people did not work because poor people did it for them.
Apart from that, at this time there were big differences between women and men lives, women were not expect to have a job or study because they usually had to stay at home hoping for a suitable husband who could offer them financial security.
That is why engagements were not realized by love, engagements were made bearing in mind the benefits that they could extract with them, so, poor people usually had more problems to get married.

Plot:
The marriage was a really important fact in the 19th century. So, Mrs. Bennet´s dream as a mother was to marry her five daughters, and if possible, with rich men who can maintain them taking into account that
they were a poor family and her daughters did not have any studies.

At the beginning of the story, Mrs. and Mr. Bennet heard about a new neighbor a rich and well-known man which was not married. This were really good news for Mrs. Bennet, who immediately started thinking
plans to join one of her five daughters with this boy, whose name was Charles Bingley. Few days later a big party was organized with all the
neighbors and some special guest who were Charles Bingley, his sister Caroline and his friend Mr. Darcy who also had a big fortune. Obviously the five Bennet girls went to these party, encouraged by their mother, for meeting Mr. Bingley and try to attract his attention.

At this party each of the girls made their own conclusions, first of all, Jane, the older sister spend most of the party dancing with Charles, she was the girl who attracted Charles Bingley´s attention, she also spent part of the party meeting Caroline, The impression she got from her was also very good, which was normal because Jane was very positive and always saws the best part of the people. Nevertheless, for Elizabeth Bennet it was not everything so beautiful, she thought that
Caroline seemed to be a very vain girl. And she thought that Charles friend, Darcy was also very rude and impolite.
On the other hand the youngest sisters had a really good time on the party.

Jane and Charles fell in love and some days later, Gloria invited Jane to their house to spend time with them. While Jane was in Bennet´s house she got ill, so she had to spend there more days than she has expected. When Elizabeth heard this she immediately went to Bennet’s house to take care of her sister so she also had to spend some days at Bennet´s house. In her stay, she realized that Charles really loved her sister Jane and also that Caroline was trying to get Darcy´s attention all the time. Few days later Jane improved and the two sisters returned to their house with their family.

When they were back at home their father told to the family that his cousin, Mr. Collins who was the heir of the family was going to visit them on the following days. This new was not very good for anyone, especially for Mrs. Bennet who hates Mr. Collins. But everything changed when in his visit, Collins told Mrs. Bennet that he would please
her family getting married with one of her daughters, he thought in Jane, but when he knew that she was already engaged she decided that he wanted to marry with Elizabeth. Obviously this was a wonderful idea for Mrs. Bennet and she accepted, but when Mr. Collins asked Elizabeth
for getting married, she rejected his proposal. This answer did not please her mother but her father accepted her decision, so she did not have any problems. Finally, Mr. Collins ended getting married with one of Elizabeth best friends, Charlotte.

Few time later, when the sisters where takin a walk, they meet Mr. Wickham a handsome men who told them that he had suffered a lot because, as he said, Mr. Darcy did terrible things to him in his life on the past, because of this Elizabeth´s opinion about Darcy was worse over time.

Several days later, Caroline sent a letter to Jane in which she explained that Charles had gone to London. Because of that, Jane was really
sad and decided to go to London with her uncle and aunt Mrs. and Mr. Gardiner. Then, Elizabeth decided to go to London too.
When she was there, they were invited to Darcy´s house and unexpectedly, he asked her for engagement but she refuses his proposal blaming him for separating his sister and Charles and also
of having made life impossible for Wickham.

Darcy accepted her decision, but then, he wrote a letter explaining to her what had really happened with Wickham and how he had affected his life. He also explained why he had influenced in Jane´s and
Charles´s relationship. After reading this, her opinion about Darcy changed completely.

But this opinion changed even more when Lydia Bennet scape with Wickham, this was a big dishonor to the bennet family and for solving it, Wickham asked for a lot of money which was mostly paid by Darcy.
After that, Wickham finally engaged with Lydia although her sisters had warned her about him. When Elizabeth found out what Darcy did for them, she regretted not having accepted his marriage proposal, but she thought that it was very late to change her opinion.

Obviously she was wrong and some days later when Darcy asked her again for getting married she accepted his proposal. Who was really
happy at the end of the story was Mrs. Bennet because three of her daughters where married finally.

Main events:

1. A rich men (Mr. Bingley) coming into town.

2. A big party was organized in the neighborhood.

3. Jane and Charles fell in love.

4. Mr. Collins (Mr. Bennet´s cousin) proposes marriage to Elizabeth but she
refuses.

5. Charlotte (Elizabeth friend) and Mr. Collins get engaged.

6. Darcy separates Bingley and Jane.

7. Jane, and then Elizabeth went to London.

8. Darcy proposes to Elizabeth and she declines.

9. Lydia Bennet and Wickham scape together

10. Mr. Darcy Pays Wickham to Marry Lydia and solve all the problems.

11. Darcy Proposes again and Elizabeth accepted.

Story conclusion:
The conclusion I draw from this story is that it shows people that they have to stop being guided by their pride or their prejudices as stated in the title of the book.
For example Elizabeth, at the beginning is influenced by hers first impressions and by what people tell her about Darcy and then,
when she listen his story and meets him better changed her opinion.

Apart from this, the story also shows who Mrs. Bennet wanted to marry her daughters and she finally managed marry three of them. This
shows how the society worked at that time and the women roles at it. Obviously we can see that nowadays this has changed.

Write one fact and one opinion about this story:
One fact about the story that has caught my attention is when at the end, Lady Catherine went to talk with Elizabeth to explain her that she can´t get engaged with Darcy only because she was poor and she won´t give any financial support to him, without taking into account Darcy´s and Elizabeth´s feelings and if they were in love or not. But fortunately this action instead of separating the couple had them together and they finally get engaged.
In my opinion this is also based on the prejudices and the pride instead of in people´s feeling which is what is really important. I think that they should give more important to the happiness and less to the
money.

How long did it take you
to read it? Did you find it difficult to understand?
I read the book quite quickly, it didn´t take me more than two hours because it was a short story and it was very easy to understand. The vocabulary was very easy and that also helped the speed of reading.

Recommend? Why? Why not?
I would recommend this book especially to English students. It is a good option if you want to start reading in English because it is an easy and a short book with an entertaining story.

Your opinion: Did you like the book? What was your favorite
part and why? Did you learn anything?
I really like and enjoy this book especially because it was short and entertaining and also because it had a really easy understanding so I didn´t get bored reading it. My favorite part obviously was the end of the story just because all the problems are solved on this part and also because Elizabeth and Darcy revel their love to each other and get engaged without thinking about the money or what people will think about their relationship. Another part that I also like a lot was when Elizabeth refuses Mr. Collin´s marriage proposal. It shows that
Elizabeth set her feelings before the money although her mother didn´t like that decision at all.

Yes, with this book I learnt how the society was and the society rules that where imposed in the 19th century. How women had to stay at home waiting for a man that would maintain them, while men could study, get a job and earn their own money.

Star rating: *****

Students name: Irati Balerdi

BOOK REPORT:

Book title: Pride and Prejudice

Author: Jane Austen

Main characters:

-Bennet family→ Mr and Mrs Bennet (parents) , Jane, Elizabeth,Lydia,Mary and Kitty (daughters).

-Mr Collins (cousin)

-Charles Bingley

-Mr Darcy (Mr Bingley’s best friend)

-Mr Wickham

Story Setting:

This story is set in 19th-century rural England in which we could appreciate clearly the differences between poor and rich people. The most influencial sector was the rich landowners; they lived on large estates. They didn’t work, but they had a great amount of farmers working for them.

Then, according to the law all the land went to the oldest son. In the case of the Bennet family, as there wasn’t any son in the family, the land or the state passed to the closest male relative. Daughters couldn’t study a profession or own lands, the only thing they could do for the good of the family was to marry a rich man.

Plot:

Mrs Bennet wanted their five daughters to get marry with rich men, as they hadn’t a big fortune in the family.

The story stats when the family get inform about their new rich neighbor in Netherfield Park ( a large state near the Bennets’). Mrs Bennet sees a great opportunity for their daughters to marry him. Luckily a big party is celebrated by one neighbor of their neighborhood.

In that party Jane the oldest daughter attract the attention of the new rich handsome neighbor Mr Bingley. They start falling in love. In contrast Mr Darcy (Mr Blingey best friend) didn’t behave nicely with Elizabeth.

Some days after the party, Jane gets invited to Mr Blingey house by his sister. In the way to Netherfield Park she gets ill and she has to stay there some days. Elizabeth goes to visit her sister and in that time Darcy has the opportunity to meet her better and to change his mind.

When they return home their parents tell them that a close cousin was coming to visit them. When he arrives he says that he wants to marry Jane, but as Jane was in love with Mr Blingey he proposes Elizabeth, but she refuses because she isn’t in love whit that boring man.

The family started being friend of an officer, Mr Wickham, who hasn’t a good relationship with Darcy. He tells Elizabeth all the problems he had had with him and this makes Elizabeth having a worse impression of Darcy than the one she had before.

After that Jane receives a letter which tells her that Mr Blingey was going to London. So as she was so sad she decided to spend some time with her aunt and uncle, Mrs and Ms Gardiner.

Elizabeth also decided to go visiting her friend (now her cousisn’s Collins wife). In that period of time Darcy visits her a lot and he fall in love with her, that’s why he later proposes her to marry him. She refuses it without thinking it because of the prejudice she has about him.

Some days after that Mr Darcy sends a letter explaining the truth about the problems with Wickham and why he thinks her sister didn’t love Mr Blingey. In that moment, she realized that she was wrong about him and she start changing his mind and looking at him differently.

On the other hand, Lydia Bennet escapes whit Mr Wickham because she things that he love her. He demands money to the family in exchange of marries her, but as it is a high amount Mr Darcy pays to help them.

Mr Blingey returns from London because he was in love with Jane and of course she was still in love too so they get married.

Besides, Mr Darcy wins over Elizabeth by the act of helping Bennet family with Lydias’ wedding money and when the truth about Wickham comes out, so she finally accept the proposal and they get also married.

Main events:

-Mrs Bennet wants her daughters to marry with rich men.

-Mr Blingey (a handsome rich gentleman) comes to the neighborhood.

-Mr Blingey and Jane Bennet fall in love in the party.

-Jane is invited to Mr Blingey house and she gets ill on the way.

-Elizabeth Bennet goes to Mr Blingey house to take care of her sister. Mr Darcy stars meeting better Elizabeth.

-When they return home Mr Collins (their cousin) proposes Elizabeth to marry him but she refuses.

-The Bennet family meet the officer Wickham (who is not a good friend of Mr Darcy)

-Mr Blingey goes to London and Jane decided to spend time with her aunt and uncle to forget Mr Blingey.

-Elizabeth visits her friend and Mr Darcy goes always to visit her during that time. Finally he fall in love with Elisabeth and he proposes to marry him. She immediately says no to the proposal because of the prejudices.

-Mr Darcy writes a letter that changes totally Elizabeth’s mind.

-Lydia Bennet escape whit Mr Wickham (who only wants her for the money) and they get married.

-Mr Blingey returns and marries Jane.

-Elisabeth finally fall in love with Mr Darcy and the get also married.

Story conclusion:

The conclusion I got from this book is that we have to live apart from the pride and the prejudice. We have to follow our feelings and make decisions in our own, without looking at the others opinion.

As an example, when Elizabeth rejects Mr Darcy’s proposal is only because she have heard Mr Wickham version (which actually was false).

In another case for example, in the end of the book Mr Darcy and Mr Blingey follow their heart and they get married with girls that haven’t got a big fortune but that the love which is the most important thing.

One fact and one opinion about this story:

One fact that has attracted me is the pressure the daughters receive from their mother. I mean, for example when she want Elizabeth to marry her boring cousin Mr Collins. This was actually what used to happen in the past, the society imposed this kind of “rules” and people have a close mind.

So I think that in this book we can appreciate perfectly the type of society, not only in the fact I’ve mentioned also in other parts of the book, for example the attitude of Mr Wickham; he acts all the time around the money, even on his wedding he is thinking on the fortune he will get and not in love.

How long did it take you to read it? Did you find it difficult to understand?

It didn’t take me a long time to read this book, I actually spend less than two hours reading it. The vocabulary was quite easy so I didn’t find any difficulty reading it. In addition the contents of the book were also easy to understand and as there weren’t a lot of characters the story wasn’t confusing to follow.

Recommend? Why? Why not?

I would highly recommend this book to those people who wants to start reading some English because of the reasons I have written above, it hasn’t got any complication to read.

I would also recommend it to everyone who like stories with romantic topics.

In contrast I wouldn’t recommend this book to the people who love reading because it is quite simple. It hasn’t got anything special, it is a romantic story like the common ones.

Opinion: Did you like the book? What was your favourite part and why? Did you learn anything?

I personally really like this book because as it is a short and a well understandable version of the real one. This version is perfect for people who don’t like reading or for those who get bored whit this topic. It seemed to me that it isn’t as the current unreadable school books.

My favourite part in this romantic book is when Elisabeth realized that Mr Wickham wasn’t telling the truth about Mr Darcy. This happens when he writes a letter explaining everything to her. This is a great change in Elizabeth’s mind. Another great part in the book is when Mr Darcy helps Bennet family with Lydia’s wedding; it’s one of my favourites too.

I think that an essential thing I have learnt is the way people used to live and act in the 19th century and that’s a good think to know about our antecessors, but without any doubt, the most important thing I have learnt from this fantastic book is that we have to know first people and put apart our pride and our prejudices; life would be easier in this way.

My star rating: ****

Landowners were the most influential and rich sector and they earned money by renting their lands to poor farmers. It was a male-dominated society, where all the properties went to the oldest son while young sons had to get a job. Meanwhile the daughters could not own land or get an education, they usually where housewives after getting a husband.

Plot

The book starts with the Bennet family, a low class family who lived in England at 19th century. Mrs Bennet, a mother obsessed with marrying all of her 5 daughters, was very excited because a new rich and not married man was arriving to the place they lived. This man was called Charles Bingley and he arrived with another rich friend called Mr Darcy. Mrs Bennet convinced her husband to talk with the new neighbor and surprisingly they were going to celebrate a party. Without doubting Mrs Bennet forced her daughters to go to this party.

That night was very special, Jane, the oldest daughter and a very nice and beautiful girl, felt in love with Charles and he did it with her as well. He was decided to marry one of the daughters. He wanted to marry Elizabeth, but of course she rejected him. He finally, decided to marry one of Elizabeth´s best friend and they went to London.

Some days after rejecting this proposal, while they were going to town they met Mr Wickham, him and Elizabeth connected very well and had fun together. For her surprise, Mr Wickham and Darcy knew each other and they relationship was also bad, he told Elizabeth that Darcy was jealous of him because his dad love him more and that he did horrible things to him.

Time passed quietly in Bennets house, but suddenly a letter arrived, it was for Jane and it said that Charles was leaving to London with his sister and Mr Darcy. Jane was very sad while Elizabeth was enjoying Wickham´s company. Both sisters decided to go to London separately .

While Elizabeth was there, she saw Mr Darcy in a dinner and surprisingly he asked her to marry him! Of Course Elizabeth rejected him and also she told him all the bad thoughts she had for him. Mr Darcy left the place and next day she gave a letter to Elizabeth where he explained everything: the real story with Mr Wickham ( he was a bad person and tried to marry Darcy´s sister to annoy him and because her money), the truth about Charles moving to London etc. Elizabeth was shocked she was completely wrong about Darcy.

Meanwhile, Lydia the smallest sister went to Brighton despite Elizabeth´s opposition. The relationship between Darcy and Elizabeth was just getting better and when she heard of the news that Wickham was trying to marry Lydia and that they had escaped together he was his support.

Finally they found the couple, they were not married yet, but they were going to if they paid some money. Later they found that all of this was because of Mr Darcy´s help, and when him and Elizabeth got again together they decided to get married.

Main events

· A new neighbor comes to the town

· Charles and Jane fall in love in the party, while Elizabeth and Mr Darcy don’t get along well

· Darcy falls in love with Elizabeth

· Mr Collins propose marriage to Elizabeth but she rejects him

· They met Mr Wickham and find out the horrible story he has with Darcy

· Charles and Darcy move to London

· Elizabeth an Jane go to London and there Darcy ask Elizabeth to marry him

· Elizabeth finds out the truth about Wickham and she starts having feelings for Darcy.

· Lydia escapes with Wickham and they want to get married

· Thanks to Darcy they return and got married

· Elizabeth, Lydia and Jane got married with their respective husbands.

Conclusion

In my opinion everyone earns a good lesson, Elizabeth understands that she can’t have so many prejudices without knowing a person as he did with Mr darcy and Mr darcy also learns that sometimes he must forget the pride and the social status and that he should follow his feelings.

Write one fact and one opinion about this story:

One fact that has called my attention in this book, is the obsession Mrs Bennet had about marrying all her daughters, she didn’t care who it was she just watched the social status of the man and didn’t care about her daughters’ feelings. I think this represents exactly how women were forced to marry any man without considering their opinion.

How long did it take you to read it? Did you find it difficult to understand? It was quite easy to read the vocabulary and grammar was not very complex and in an hour and a half it was finished.

Recommend and opinion

I liked this book a lot it was entertaining and understandable; the twist plot it has is unbelievable. Also it is a good way to know the society of that era. I would recommend it because it has been a good pastime for me and also it is a good way to practice English comprehension. Five stars.

Student's Name: Ander Ramos Caballero

BOOK REPORT:

Book title: Pride and Prejudice

Author: Jane Austen

Main characters:

The main characters are Elizabeth, Jane and Lydia Bennet, their parents Mr and Mrs Bennet, Mr Darcy, Wickham, Charles Bringley and his sister Caroline. As secondary characters we can find Mary and Kitty Bennet (sisters), Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner who are Elizabeth´s uncle/aunt, Mr. Collins and Georgiana (Mr. Darcy´s sister).

Story Setting:

The story is set in 19th-century England. At that time, there were a lot of differences in the society. The first one was between poor and rich people:

Poor people used to live in little houses trying to survive day per day while rich people were living in big estates and doing whatever they want thanks to the money that produced the poor people they had working for them.

We also can appreciate the differences between being a man and being a woman:

The men had all rights and they were allowed to do a lot of things and to decide about their future. Women, instead, had to do everything their husbands wanted to, and they had to make their husbands happy.

Plot:

The Bennet family wasn´t rich, but everything they had would be inherited by Mr. Bennet´s closest male relative (Mr. Collins) because he only had daughters. That´s why Mrs. Bennet´s dream was to see all her daughters married.

One day, a rich unmarried boy appeared in the neighborhood so Mrs. Bennet started making plans to marry one of her daughters with him so she spokes with his husband about it but he wasn’t interested on it (That was what he said although he was really interest on it)

After some days, the Bennet girls went to a party in the neighborhood. Charles Bringley, the unmarried rich man, went there too with his best friend Mr. Darey. During the party, Jane (the prettiest girl of the Bennet family) and Charles felt in love. But, although there were many girls none of them was relevant for Mr. Darcy. Due to the behavior of Mr. Darcy, neighborhood’s people started disliking him.

After some time, Caroline invited Jane to their rented house (although she invited her, she didn’t like Jane), but as it was raining, she got wet and finally she got sick. Charles took care of her and Elisabeth went to visit her sister.

When the two sisters came back home, a letter from Mr. Collins arrived, he was coming. When he arrived, he proposed to marry Elisabeth but she refused. At that time, Elisabeth met Mr. Wickman who told her a story about how much he suffered because of Mr. Darcy and she trusted him. One day, a letter arrived for Jane, when she read it she realized that Charles had gone to London and he won´t come back. To help her forget Charles, her aunt invited her to her house in London, but not in the same area as Charles´ house.

From this point a lot of event happen and the relation between a lot of characters change completely.

Main events:

· Mr. Bingley comes to the Bennet´s neighborhood.

· Charles Bingley and Jane fall in love.

· Due to Mr. Darcy´s behavior everyone dislikes him. Elisabeth dislikes him even more when Wickman tells her a false story about Darcy.

· Mr. Collins proposes marriage to Elizabeth but she rejects him

· Mr. Bingley goes back to London (persuaded by his best friend and his sister to leave Jane).

· Jane goes to London with her aunt in order to forget Charles.

· Elisabeth goes to visit her friend Charlotte who is married with Mr. Collins.

· While Elisabeth is in London, Mr. Darcy tells her his feelings, but she rejects him. The next day he gives her a letter in which he explain all the truth about why Charles left Jane and why was false Mr. Wickman´s story. At this moment Elisabeth´s feelings about Mr. Darcy start changing.

· Elisabeth visits Darcy´s house with her uncle and aunt. Mr. Darcy was not supposed to be there but he suddenly appeared. She starts falling in love with him but she is afraid it is very late.

· Elisabeth receives a letter which says that Lydia escaped with Mr. Wickman. All the family and Mr. Darcy start trying to find them.

· The finally find them and Mr. Wickman says that she will marry Lydia if they pay a little quantity of money. Elisabeth doesn’t understand why he was that little money so she starts investigating and finally she discover that Mr. Darcy was paying Mr. Wickman in order to help Bennet family.

· Lady Catherine tries to dissuade Elisabeth about marrying Mr. Darcy.

Story conclusion:

After all the events that happen during the novel and the change of relation between the characters, the love is revealed and Elisabeth marries Mr. Darcy because she loves him and he loves her. Charles also comes back and he speaks with Jane so the finally get married although at first they didn’t want to talk. On the other hand, Lydia gets married with Mr. Wickman thanks to Mr. Darcy.

At the end, Elisabeth goes to live to Mr. Darcy´s house with him and her sister Georgiana. After a short time Charles buy a house near Darcy´s estate and Jane goes to live with him. That way the two sisters see each other every day.

Lydia, who is married with Mr. Wickman, live more in the north, but she sometimes comes to visit her family.

Write one fact and one opinion about this story:

I read with special interest the part of the story when Mr. Darcy speaks about Mr. Wickman. He says that he was not a hard worker man and that he was taking advantage of the Mr. Darcy´s father´s fellings about him for getting money.

I think that is very easy to trust someone while he is not saying the truth and a lot of people are abusing the confidence other ones have in them. Everyone must be a hard working person and anyone mustn’t take advantage of a person if you are hurting him/her.

How long did it take you to read it? Did you find it difficult to understand?

The book was very short and very easy to understand. Maybe you don’t understand some words but nowadays you can easily look for them in a web-dictionary. I don’t exactly remember how long did it took me to read the book, but I would say that no more than one hour and a half – two hours.

Recommend? Why? Why not?

I would recommend it for everyone that likes love stories, because it is all about that: about love. If you are searching for something different from that just don’t waste your time reading it because you aren’t going to enjoy it.

I have to say that if you are looking for a romantic novel or you enjoy reading that king of books, this book is a must for you because it is really well narrated and the characters are well crafted.

Your opinion: Did you like the book? What was your favourite part and why? Did

you learn anything?

I´ve never liked love stories, and this isn´t an exception. Although it is a great novel (well written, well crafted characters, a good way of narrating the story…) I didn’t like it because it is a love story. So, as it is a story about love, it has a lot of characters and a lot of changing relations that could be really great for someone, but personally I don’t enjoy reading it.

I think that you can learn something from everything that happens around you. So, if I haven’t learnt anything about the story (for example the relations between people), I will have learnt something about vocabulary or grammar. I would say that I have learnt something new thanks to the book.

Your star rating for this book: ****

I give four stars because although I don’t like it, it is a great novel.

We can recognise that because of the different between social sectors, where the landowners were the most rich one. Those people didn’t work and lived of rental income they received from farmers.

Apart from that, we can see the great difference between men and women. All the inheritance of the parents was for the oldest son. That happened because of the inheritance laws.

Men had to learn a profession to (they often were lawyer) but women couldn’t do that and they had to hope to marry a rich husband. (Women only could work as a governess or as a lady’s companion.)

Plot:

The story starts with a notice in the Bennet family, a low class family who lived in rural England in the 19th century, near Netherfield Park. The notice was that this large state, what was near Bennets’ house, had been rented by Charles Bingley. He was a not married rich man. Mr and Mrs Bennet had 5 young girls and Mrs Bennet wanted to marry them as soon as posible, so she wanted to meet him. Mr Bennet visited Charles so now Mrs Bennet could invite him to dinner. But before she could do that one of the neighbours organised a big party and all of them were invited. It was a perfect oportunity to meet Mr Bingley.

The party was very special. During that, Jane, the oldest daughter of the Bennets’, and Charles fell in love each other. Furthermore, Kitty and Lidia (two of the sisters) danced with some army officers. Whereas, Darcy, the best friend of Mr Bingley, had a rude behaviour to Elizabeth (the most intelligent of the five sisters), who didn’t mind that behaviour.

The next day a note arrived from Caroline Bingley, Charles’ sister, wanted to invite Jane for dinner that night, but Darcy and Charles won’t be here. Mrs Bennet said her daughter that she would stay at the night in Netherfield because of the rain, because she couldn’t return to his house and in this way she would see Mr Charles. But the next day another note arrived saying that Jane was very ill, so Elizabeth decided to walk to the state. When Elizabeth finished having dinner with Caroline, Charles and Darcy, she went with Jane, who was lying in the bed, and listened to Caroline saying bad words about them. The only thing Caroline wanted was to be near to Mr Darcy. The next day everything was well and the two sisters went home.

The day the two sisters turned back to their home, Mr Bennet had a new. His cousin, Mr Collins, would have dinner with them. He was the person who was going to inherit all Bennet family’s properties. He wanted to marry one of the sisters too. He asked for Jane but Mrs Bennet said that she couldn’t, so then he asked for Elizabeth. Mrs Bennet was agreed but Elizabeth refused him. Her mother was so angry so she talked to his husband, (Elizabeth’s father) who agreed with his daughter.

Finally Mr Collins proposed marriage to Charlotte, Elizabeth’s good friend, and she agreed.

One day Jane and Elizabeth went with Lydia and Kitty to a near town called Meryton. Here were stationed a group of army officers. They met Mr Wickham. He was a very handsome army officer who, in his childhood, had had a close relationship with Mr Darcy. He told them his story with him. (Darcy’s father and him got along very well and when Darcy’s father died he left him money and property to live well the rest of his live but Darcy went against that and didn’t achieve it.) In this way, Jane and Elizabeth only thought the worst about Mr Darcy and thought that Mr Wickham was very attractive and intelligent.

Time passed and a letter arrived from Caroline to Bennet’s house. Charles was leaving Netherfield to London and he won’t return. This was because Mr Charles would marry Darcy’s rich and beautiful sister, Georgiana. Elizabeth knew that Caroline wrote that because she wanted to marry Darcy and she thought that this way she would have more possibilities to do that. Mr and Mrs Gardiner, sisters’ uncle and aunt, invited Jane for going to London with them to get away from her feelings. She wrote to Caroline from London and she realized that she was a bad person. Mr and Mrs Collins didn’t want Elizabeth to marry Wickham because they knew that he only wanted to marry a rich woman.

Elizabeth visited her old friend Charlotte and Mr Collins in their house, on Lady Catherine de Bourgh’s state, in London. When she was meeting them they received a special visit. She was Miss the Bourgh, Lady Catherine’s daughter. She was going to marry Darcy, she was very arrogant. Her mother, however, was a formidable woman. Darcy visited his aunt with his cousin Fitzwilliam. He was very pleasant. They both went on a walk by the garden. He told her that Darcy had done a favour to his friend Charles; he didn’t let him marrying a woman who wasn’t suitable for him. Suddenly, Darcy appeared and said Elizabeth that he was in love with her and that he wanted to marry her. She said no because she didn’t love him, because she didn’t understand why he treated this way Mr Wickham and because he had ruined her sister Jane’s marriage with Mr Charles.

The next day Darcy was waiting for Elizabeth outside the house, he had written her a letter. Here he explained the true of all. He thought that Jane didn’t love Charles so he and Caroline said him not to marry her. When Darcy’s father died, he wrote in his will that Darcy had to help Wickham every month with some money and that he would pay his church career. Whereas, Wickham wanted all the money at the same time and when he spent it he came back asking for more money. When Darcy denied it Wickham went to Darcy’s sister’s house, Gergiana, to marry him. At this time he would own Gerogiana’s fortune and he would take revenge on Darcy, but he avoid all that.

When Elizabeth came back to her house she told Jane all she had discovered except the reasons of Charles’ behaviour. They didn’t tell their family the truth about Wickham.

Lydia went out with Mrs Fosters, the wife of one of the officers, and Elizabeth went on a trip with Mr and Mrs Gardiner to Derbyshire. The first day they went on a visit to Plemberey, Darcy’s and Charles’ long state, but Mr Darcy wasn’t there, he would came back the next day. When they were going out the house Elizabeth saw Darcy in the other side of the garden.

They spent some days in Plemberey. Elizabeth’s feelings towards Darcy were every moment changing. One of the days Darcy went fishing with Mr Gardiner and Mrs Gardiner and Elizabeth stayed in Plemberey with Georgiana, Darcy’s beautiful and niece sister. Caroline only wanted to hurt her (Elizabeth).

Mr and Mrs Gardiner and Elizabeth returned home and read Jane’s some letters. Lydia had escaped with Wickham and no one knew where they had escaped. Mr Gardiner and Mr Bennet searched them some days and when Mr Bennet returned home, Mr Gardiner finally found them. They only had to pay a little sum of money every month. Elizabeth asked for the true to his aunt and he told her all it. Darcy had paid all Wickham’s debt and a large amount every year and he found Wickham a new position in the army too.

Mr Bingley and Mr Darcy went to Bennet’s house. The day after, Mr Bingley got engaged with Jane, but Mr Darcy returned to London. A week after that occurrence Lady Catherine de Bourgh appeared in Bennet’s house saying to Elizabeth not to marry Mr Darcy and she threatened her too. Some days after, Darcy appeared in the Bennet’s house and they both went out to the garden. They got engaged too!

Kitty and Mary weren´t married, but with three daughters married, (two of them with rich men) Mrs Bennet didn’t mind about the marriages more.

Main events:

- Mrs Bennet wanted her daughters to marry rich men.

- Mr Bingley rented the long state near Bennet’s house.

- A party is celebrated and Jane fell in love with Mr Bingley. Whereas, Darcy was rude to Elizabeth.

- Caroline Bingley invited Jane to Mr Bingley’s house. That night she became ill and Elizabeth went to that house to take care of her sister.

- They returned home and received the visit of Mr Collins, their cousin, who would inherit family’s properties. He wanted to marry Jane but he couldn’t. Then he tries to marry Elisabeth but she refused him.

- Mr Collins married Charlotte.

- Bennet sisters met Wickham.

- Caroline sent Jane a letter saying that they (Mr and Mrs Bingley and Mr Darcy) were returning to London.

- Mr and Mrs Gardiner invited Jane for going to London with them.

- Elizabeth visited Mr Collins ad Darcy and his cousin Fitzwilliam appeared there. Fitzwilliam told Jane about Darcy and his help to Charles saying him not to marry a girl.

- Darcy wanted to marry Elizabeth and he told the entire true about him and Charles.

- Jane went on a trip to Derbyshire with her aunt and uncle.

- They spent some days on Plemberey. Elizabeth’s feelings towards Darcy were constantly changing.

- Lydia escaped with Wickham. They got married but with the help of Darcy’s and Mr Gardiner’s money. Elizabeth only knew that.

- Jane got married with Mr Bingley.

- Lady Catherine de Bourgh threatened Elizabeth.

- Elizabeth and Mr Darcy got married too.

Story conclusion:

After all the changes of behaviour and feelings during the story, almost everything finished well. Jane and Elizabeth got married with marvellous and rich men. Whereas, Lydia married an opportunist and unashamedly man, but she loved him.

Finally, Mrs Bennet obtained what she wants. Three of her daughters were happily married.

One fact and an opinion about the story:

I was surprised by the fact that in that time women couldn’t inherit their parents’ properties so they had to search for a rich man to marry him. I think that rights for women were very unfair and the story tries to show it to us. Mrs. Bennet has ambition to see all her daughters married and she tries to be as soon as possible, she doesn’t mind how she is doing that, she even say her daughters the man they had to marry, without asking for their opinion

How long did it take you to read it? did you find it difficult to understand?

It took me less than 10 minutes to read each chapter. I didn’t find it difficult to understand. The vocabulary of the story is very easy and compressible; it doesn’t have any difficulties to read it.

Recommend? Why? Why not?

I would recommend that book because the plot of the story is very awesome. It makes the reader want to read more and more. Moreover, it allows the reader to be a witness to the situation of a common family of the 19th century.

Opinion:

I like a lot this story, especially when Darcy declared his love to Elizabeth and he told her the all truth about what had happened. I like that part because it shows us Darcy’s feelings’ change and the pleasant and elegant man he was.

I have learnt what incredible evolution has suffered women’s rights and that we have not to believe on prejudices. The book shows us that those prejudices are usually wrong.

Star rating: *****

On the other hand Charles was amaze by the beautiful Jane Bennet. After the party Elizabeth and Jane talked about what happened last night. Jane told Elizabeth that she liked Charles sister but her sister thought that she was arrogant and vain. Later that day Jane receives a letter from Caroline where she invites her to have dinner with his brother and Darcy. When she asks for the carriage her mother won’t let her take it so she goes with the horse and the ends up all wet because of the rain and she gets sick. She told her family that she had to stay there and Elizabeth was really worried so she went to check her out. Elizabeth has dinner with Caroline, Darcy and Charles instead of her sister because of her sickness. They finally return and that night Mr Collins appears he´ll inherit the Bennet house when Mr Bennet dies. Mr Collins suddenly proposes to Elizabeth and she denies him because she doesn’t love him. Mr Collins didn’t care about it that much as he married Elizabeth frien Charlotte, Charlotte married him for the fortunes that he had not because he loved him witch left Elizabeth worried and sad about it.

One day Elizabeth went with her younger sister for a walk and he met Mr Wickam. She described him as plasent and impressed all the girls. Mr Darcy appears and looks at Wickam with a serious and strange face and Elizabeth finds that pretty weird. What really surprised her was the story that Wickam told Elizabeth about Darcy, he told that Darcys father was really good with him and when he died he left him with things because he appreciate him but Darcy took it everything from Wickam.

Janes wakes up with a letter from Caroline saying that they will return to London and they will not come to Netherfield Park. Jane was devastated and she left her house with her uncle’s to go to London. One day Elizabeth went to visit her aunt and she bump into Darcy who proposes to her and he said he loved her. Elizabeth was shock and she immediately said no because all the bad things she knew about him and adding that she didn’t love him.

Darcy wrote her a letter in which he explains the whole Wickam story and that he isn’t the bad guy. Elizabeth didn’t blame him no more for what he have done.

At the bennet house again Lydia wanted to go with Mrs Foster to Brigton at first her father didn’t like the idea that much but he let her go. Elizabeth decides to go for a tour on a very big house property of Darcy and as they were visiting it Darcy appears. Caroline was jealous of Elizabeth, but after some time Elizabeth gets married, Jane too as Charles came back for her and also Lydia Mrs Bennet ended very happy knowing that her daughters were happily married.
Main events:

- Mrs Bennet want her daughters to be married she organized a party.

- Jane falls in love with Charles but he suddenly he moves to London with Mr Darcy and her sister Caroline

- Wickam lies about Darcy and Elizabeth hates him.

- Darcy proposes to Elizabeth but she denies him because of what she thinks he has done.

- Lydia runs with his lover wickam and she marries him but they are not happily married

- Jane and Charles get back together and they marry

- Elizabeth finally marries Darcy after having the wrong opinion about him and they live happy

- Mrs Bennets goals became true.

Story conclusion:

In my opinion the conclusion is that you should never marry someone if you don’t love them as Charlotte had done. Also I think that everyone has a different opinion about a person but when it comes to judgment you can only judge them if you really know that person and not like Elizabeth did with Mr Darcy that sometimes can be really rude.

Write one fact and one opinion about this story:

How long did it take you to read it? He said bad thing about Darcy so people hate him. She is looking for a rich woman to marry with because he don´t have that much money.
Story setting:
The novel is set in the 19th century in England. It is set principally in Longbourn, the Hertfordshire country town that is a mile from Meryton and twenty-four miles from London. It is a well-ordered, provincial town, filled with landed gentry and oblivious to the sweeping changes occurring outside the fringes of its narrow, circumscribed vision.
Plot:
The story starts out with the Bennett family in their "estate" called Longburn. This good looking rich dude named Mr. Bingley movies into their neighborhood. Bingley has the hots for Jane Bennett. Bingley’s friend Darcy doesn’t like them together because he thinks Jane is white trash. So Darcy plans with Bingley’s sisters to break them up. The closest relative is this dude named Mr. Collins. He’s an arrogant priest. He ends up marrying Elizabeth’s friend Charlotte. She marries him to get away from her crappy life.
Elizabeth sees Charlotte a lot. Darcy goes to visit his aunt a lot. They run into each other. Darcy asks Elizabeth to marry him but she still says no, because he’s a prick. She’s mad that he screwed up Jane and Bingley’s love affair and also cheated Wickham. Darcy admits to screwing with Jane and Bingley, but tells her that Wickham is a jerk. Elizabeth believes him. then Elizabeth goes on a trip with her aunt and uncle. They go to Darcy’s mansion. His housekeeper tells her what a sweetheart the guy is.
Then everyone finds out that Wickham ran away with Lydia Bennett, who is 16 years old (cradle robber). Elizabeth feels stupid for trusting Wickham and not Darcy. Darcy goes and finds the couple. He basically pays off Wickham to leave Lydia. Elizabeth finds out what good deeds Darcy did and starts to really like him. Bingley marries Jane and Elizabeth agrees to marry Darcy.
Main events:
-Bennet family haves five daughters and they want to marry them.
-Mr. Bennet organizes a party
-There apear some rich people
-There apears some wrong informaton about Jane
-Wickham is not a good man
-Three daughters get finallymarried
-They are happy
How long did it take you to read it?
It takes me around an hour and 45 minutes
Did you find it difficult to understand?
No, I didn´t
Recommend?
