Limit copying from the board, handouts should be provided at every opportunity.

Extra time. Be mindful of rushing instructions and answers.

Dyslexia-friendly fonts (Arial, Comic Sans, Verdana, Tahoma, Century Gothic, Trebuchet, Calibri, Open Sans).

Consider the backgrounds you use - cream, light blue, and light pink work well.

Use visuals to support verbal instructions.

Only give 1 instruction at a time.

Set accessible homework - dyslexic students will take longer to complete homework, bare this in mind when setting.

Scaffold - dyslexic students aren’t less able, they just need work to be set in a format which they can access. 

Encourage students to use technology.

Provide word mats, structure strips, keywords and sentence starters.
