Edward has no actual hands and instead has scissors for hands. Edward really wants to have normal hands and be a regular person. However, he can never have regular hands. But, this also makes him unique. He is actually very creative as is shown by the way that Edward cuts up the bushes for everyone in the town. He cuts out great shapes like massive rabbits or families together. The town people soon start to respect him and soon, he is even cutting people’s hair. The film shows that anything is possible and is shown by Edward with his Scissorhands. Even with such a disability, he is still able to make an impact on the town people. Panning, which is one of them, is used to unveil many characters at once. Panning is used in the scene where all the women are waiting for Edward to cut their dog’s hair. There is a queue waiting. The camera starts at the back of the line and drags across towards the front. It shows all the women that are waiting. Near the front, it shows Peg and Kim, seeing as they are some of the main characters. As the camera reaches the front, it slowly slides towards Edward. It shows Edward cutting Joyce’s dog’s hair. This is just one scene where panning is used. As you can see, Edward, even with no actual hands is able to do something to benefit the town. Mise-En-Scene Edward is a perfect example of mise-en-scene. He is portrayed as a dark, secretive yet he is still quite shy. His makeup shows that. He also of course has the scissor hands. These really display a great sense of mystery because nobody knows how or why he has them. Finally, Edward’s clothes manage to finalise that mysterious, evil look. He has black amour with a silver chain around his neck. He is really a truly amazing character in the film. Yoda cannot speak grammatically correct. Instead of saying something like ‘You must learn,’ he would say something like ‘Learn you must.’ However, he still became the best jediwarrior in the whole of Star Wars. Edward with no hands still managed to gain the respect of the whole town. He earned his way through creative ways. Both these characters have certain things that make them different others yet this help them to stand out from the rest.
