He would be assassinated in 2011 by a suicide bomber.

I picked this article because it showed a timeline of Taliban rule in Afghanistan. When Amir returns he sees how much his home has changed. At one point Amir witnesses a man and woman being stoned. This seen impacted Amir because it showed that his home was not his home anymore.
