Many crops would have to come from foreign countries which is very expensive which is where genetically modified crops come into play. According to the Heinemann Library, most of the crops that are genetically modified crops would have had to come from foreign countries otherwise.

Genetically modified foods have proven to be able to conquer pesticides better than other crops. According to Heinemann Library, there is a bacterium called Bacillus Thuringiensis that is found in the soil of genetically modified crops. This bacterium produces a toxin that is harmful to almost all insects but is harmless to other organisms.
