We should not regard special needs children as “outcasts”. They deserve to be included and be loved by the people around them. It requires the collaboration of parents, teachers and the community to provide a safe and nurturing place for special needs children to grow in.

Working with special needs children can be very challenging but beautiful at the same time :)

I learnt the importance of inclusion, so that a child with special needs can have the environment and chance to grow and develop their skills. It is also important to work with different parties like families and the communities where working hand in hand is essential. Peers around him/her plays an important part as well as children can learn from one another.

It is not easy to work with children with ASD. But ... "You can get what you want if you try hard". Parents work hard to get the best for their children .. even if they are ASD. Early intervention is important, support from service coordinators, professionals (like medical practitioners and therapist, child development specialists) and Teachers, collaborates with parent to provide an inclusive environment for these children.

Children with special needs are special; Brave and extraordinary in their own ways. Including them in our midst in the childcare, will only bring benefits in the long run. 1. It helps normal children be exposed to the different kind of 'special-ness' and how best to help their special friends and learn how to relate to them. 2. It teaches soft skills that are valuable, like showing empathy, being kind, being appreciative, being contented. 3. It helps that from young, the inclusive culture is there, so that normal children would already be embracing these special children as they grow up. Of course the challenge for teachers, is how much they are willing to go the extra mile for them; to better understand, observe them, just to be there, think of the best for the child, no matter normal or special. It is also a challenge to develop lots of patience. I still think, as a teacher, we should strive to bring out the best potential in a child.

Inclusion is challenging yet very beneficial not only to the children with special needs but to everyone who are involve in the process. Parents cannot be there for their child forever, so their hope is for this child to be independent as he/she can be. Children with added needs will learn how to interact with peers and pick up skills from them. Typical children on the other hand, will learn how to be kind and empathetic. Atypical children are part of the society, so they need to be included in the real world not to be hidden or lock in our houses.

I see inclusiveness as a part of the life journey. All of us meet new people, different situations, distinct experiences individually. Not all ours are the same. So as the people with special needs are also part of our life, hence to be inclusive. If we do not, who else then. As early childhood educators, we must help the typical children understand the importance of the inclusiveness so that the future generations provide the children with special needs a great care and safe environment.
