For our performance, we were given a traditional Taiwanese folktale called 'The Tale of the Taiwanese Bigfoot'. The first thing we did was deciding how we were going to split up the different characters between our four group members and which characters would be a puppet. We decided to have a designated narrator who doesn't play any characters and does the most talking. We used the use of a narrator to convey the story instead of including a lot of dialog. We did this so that the story would be much easier to follow and to understand. Next, we decided that we would use the puppet for two characters the ox and a Taiwanese indigenous headhunters. We decided to make the ox a puppet because we thought that it could express an ox's movement more accurately and realistically. After that, we then decided that the rest of the performers would play multiple characters except for the main character. We did this to avoid confusion. For the script, we had decided to break the story to multiple scenes to make our performance clearer. We made it so while the narrator was talking the reset of the group members were acting it out. The occasional dialog we added was when they were added in the original story or it was needed to convey more emotion or make the overall story even clearer. For many of the dialog, we had directly quoted it from the original folktale.

A feedback that was given to us about our puppetry is that we need to add weight to our puppets. I completely agree with this, for our performance we only had 2 people controlling the puppet so it was a bit difficult to control all the 'joints' of the puppet. Adding weight to puppets is important because it makes it seem grounded and overall improves the quality of the performance by increasing the realism of the puppets.
