While doing this they brought over many dangerous diseases. One of the most dangerous disease that was brought over was smallpox. Smallpox a disease that causes severe rash's all over your body. Some of the symptoms are high fever, severe headaches, and body aches. About 30% of people who caught smallpox died. Sometimes the rash would go and infect your eyes, and even if you did survive it would make you blind for the rest of your life. The first test of variolation which was a form of curing smallpox was used in 1000 AD in China. The way that variolation works is they take a healthy patient and a sick patients and they take part of the pus that has been built up from the sick patients rash's and insert that into the healthy person. This would be fighting fire with fire by helping your immune system build up and gain the strength to get used to smallpox, so if you are exposed to a sick person you won't get sick because your immune is used to it. In the US this was first "founded" by a slave owner, but we know how this goes and it was really founded by a slave and the slaves master took credit. The way he found this is a little boy had gotten a disease called cowpox that was from the same variola family of smallpox, but it was much more mild and the symptoms were way less dangerous. There was also the catpox which was also from the variola family and similar to cowpox. From 1796 to 1798 he worked on creating a vaccine that would use the cowpox virus to fight off the smallpox. Then later in the 20th century smallpox vaccine was created. we stopped using the smallpox vaccine when the disease was eradicated making no use for the vaccine so they didn't need for babies or even adults to get it because there was none of this disease left on earth. Even though it isn't being used on humans it is still used in many things like  bioterrorism, biological warfare, and for monkeypox. Covid started in 2020 and its now 2022 and its has infected and killed many people. Old people are most likely to be affected the most by this virus, while its less deadly in younger people. Since Covid, in 2021 the Covid vaccien shot came out. It was first the first dose, the second dose, then the third. These all proved to stop the spread of Covid, so more people won't contract the disease.
