1.Resilience. I think resilience is an extremely important value throughout every stage in life. A lot of times things might be difficult and giving up is a much easier, especially when its regarding things nobody is enforcing you to do. However, its times like this where we must push through and continue moving forward no matter how hard the journey is.

2.Yes. Resilience have always been relevant throughout generations, at every age. Every generation must be resilient in carrying out whatever they do if they want to present the very best version of themselves.

1: resilience - even though its a word that we throw around often and "overuse" there's still a lot of value to the whole idea of perseverance. we came this far today because of the resilience of those before us, staying committed to singapore despite the challenges that they faced. similarly for us, we have to remain resilient to the changes of the world and stand strong on our nation.

2: yes it does as we still carry similar mindsets in terms of what defines us as a nation (eg multiculturalism). what should be added - empathy, inclusivity.

3: shared experiences - eg many guys bond over ns cus its a shared experience HAHAH

our "kiasuness" & complaint culture also brings us together

New values our generation should embrace moving forward: Humility!

Though SG has progressed fast and effectively since independence, we cannot take everything here for granted. Esp on international grounds, it is important to remain humble and respectful to people of other backgrounds.

This is evident through the Semangat Yang Bahru exhibition where we get to experience role-playing people of different cultural ethnicities, family situations as well as ages. We then gained a first hand experience visualising the different perspectives that others have on the same issue. And throughout this exhibition, we understand that it takes alot of thought process and multiple layers of consideration to form policies, build islands, or even vote for the desired ‘party’.

However, it is crucial then that the future generation has to learn how to remain humble and stay grateful while always understanding that everyone plays a part and can contribute to SG’s development.

Openness— Being open to diff perspectives/viewpoints

1a) Do I think the values taught still apply today? Indubitably. Values, themselves, see no end through time. Only situations change, but our responses are rooted in the same values as we've been hardwired.

1b) Values for the new generation to embrace: The new/following generation should find solace in service to others before self. Being appreciative of our history and upbringing, alongside the recognition of each trial and tribulation in each phase of our Singapore journey should lead to a greater general knowledge, used for context and reasoning for future innovations. The appreciation in our history leads to a sense of belonging, resulting in service to others before self out of patriotism and the effects of neighbouring.

2) One possibility in bringing people closer through observations in how we live and work together in Singapore:

We live in a Singapore that thrives in competition, comparison, strife and obstacles. We are quick to work hard for solutions, and the more opportunities to work with each other, the more we connect through hard work.

This point is not to hope for more issues, but a point to recognise Singapore's people in their efforts, and build a sense of unity in our works.

Resilience ensures that we'll be able to keep surviving and progressing

even when we're faced with unfavourable circumstances

Q2: Resilience is still relevant to singapore today as it enables us to keep on preserving and finding solutions/better ideas to live better.
