They were beaten and also striped of their language and religion. they would not want other Canadians to know about the conditions inside the school because the conditions could be really bad and harmful so they would not want other people to know about it because they might complain and try to get the school shut down. if they did let other Canadians know they would link it to the reason why so many students have died at that school.
