         <description><![CDATA[<p>Explicit instruction will be done through the use of a graphic organizer - Word Mapping. </p><ol><li><p>Model the activity for the whole class. </p></li><li><p>Provide each student with a copy of the short story "Be Careful What You Wish For" by K5 Learning to utilize for context.</p></li><li><p>Assign groups of 3-4 students and allow them to collaborate while completing the remaining four Word Maps. </p></li><li><p>Review with the students after they have completed their Word Map(s). </p></li><li><p>Ensure there is no misconceptions of synonyms, antonyms, examples, and non-examples for each word. </p></li></ol>]]></description>

         <title>Vocabulary Trading Card Activity</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Further Review: </p><p>Students will choose a vocabulary word and create a "trading card" using the information from their word maps. Students will debate with their peers who possess a different vocabulary word than theirs to determine which word is "better". The main objective is for students to explain the usage, definitions, synonyms, and antonyms to strengthen their long-term memory of each vocabulary word. Students will continue until they have "competed" against peers with each of the other four vocabulary words.  </p>]]></description>
