According to the NOAA, this hurricane season, which lasts until November 1st in the Atlantic, could bring 1-4 major hurricanes. My concern is that something will happen like Harvey and people will get sick from drinking water.

(Katherine) What is tetanus, and how can you get it from a Hurricane!?

Classmates, tetanus is a serious bacterial infection that you can get from an open wound. If you were trying to escape a hurricane or flood zone and you got scraped or cut, then bacteria in the water could give you tetanus! This serious illness can cause muscle spasms and breathing problems. The picture below shows someone who stepped on a nail and got tetanus, this is why you should wear shoes outside especially during a hurricane. Actually, you probably shouldn't be outside.

I read about standing water, which is water that is stuck and can't move. Bacteria can breed in this water that make you sick. So just because water isn't deep doesn't mean it's safe! I knew that mosquitoes like standing water, but I never thought about bacteria.
