QUESTION 1:
What are the activities in Facebook that have been assigned to you this semester and are these activities have helped you in improving your English language skills?

ANSWER:
Along this semester, our lecturer had assigned many assignments to us and there is seven Facebook activities that been assigned to us. The first activities was we need to upload about the part of speech in the facebook which was a trouble for me because I did not downloaded facebook but I ask my friend to upload it for me. Second is we were assigned to write a summary for a listening test as a practice and upload it on facebook. The third and fourth activities is we need to write for the LIRA Test 1 and 2 respectively and send it to our class representative who uploads all of it in the facebook. The last three activities is we need to make videos about our mid-semester break, role play, and a group video about the local cuisine. I would be lying if I say that these activities did not improve my English language skills because it did better than before.

QUESTION 2: Do you think the video uploads in Facebook have helped you in improving your speaking skills? How?

ANSWER:
In my opinion all of the video uploads in Facebook have helped me improve my speaking skills because by talking in English in front of a camera has help me in talking in front of people in English even if I am wrong. Usually I only talk in English in front of my friend and family and rarely in front of a teacher unless I am ask to. The activity also helps me in thinking of what to say because when in front of a camera I only think about ending it as fast as possible without a mistake so that I do not have to do a retake. It also helps me thinking of the script better when work in groups because others can help correcting the script if there is a mistake in it. In other words, uploading videos really help me improve my speaking skills.

QUESTION 3: Describe your “Week Without Wall” (www) video project. How did the process of working on this video helped you to become an independent learner?

ANSWER:
During our “Week Without Wall”, we were assign to make a group video about the local cuisine around Merbok and upload it in Facebook. Honestly, our group had plan to go to our friend’s house because her mom can cook many delicious food but then our lecturer inform us to do it around Merbok only and we had no idea where to shoot the video because we had no information about Merbok. Until a friend of ours give us information about a few place where we could go and all of it work out in the end, one way or another. Through all this, we learned many things about making a group video and these lessons teach us to be an independent learner so that we can learn from our mistake and correct it in the future, as example check the price of the food before ordering it for it might cost you a lot.

QUESTION 4: Are you satisfied with your performance in ELC 121 especially in your speaking skills?

ANSWER:
In all of my honesty, I am satisfied with my performance in ELC 121 so far. Mostly exhausted because this subject forces the most English out of me than any other subject but still satisfied. At the start of the class I never expected all of those activities because I thought it would be like a normal in-class subject which clearly have been proven wrong. With all the video that had been made, it even improve my speaking skills and do not worry for I still do not want to speak to other people in English casually yet.

MUHAMMAD AIMAN FARUQI BIN MOHAMED AFFENDY

2018697824
Based on the story that I have listen to, the Frog Prince by Walter Crane, there are many moral lessons that can be found in the story.

One of the moral lessons from the story is you should keep your promises that you have make. This can be shown from the story when the king said, “what you promise then you must perform” to his daughter. The king said that line so that her daughter would keep her end of the promise and not betray the frog prince’s trust. This moral lesson should be practice in the real world where most people these days tend to forget their promise to run away from their responsibilities and end up betraying others’ trusts. By practicing this moral lesson, people can become loyal and more responsible to their duty.

Another moral lesson that I found is that you should not discriminate others that helped you. As example, the king’s youngest daughter saying that the frog should just stay in the fountain and stay with his equals even though she ask the frog prince’s help. This moral lesson should be follow to cultivate other people not to be rude towards others for it can hurt their feelings, but should appreciate their help by saying thank you.

There are other moral lessons that can be found in the story and these moral lessons can and should be practice in the real world so that it can help the world becomes a better place.

The story that I listen to is The Happy Prince, written by Oscar Wilde, because you can find many moral values in the story.

One of the many moral values is that we must be selfless for others happiness. As example when the swallow tell the prince about the poor that wandering the streets in the middle of winter, the prince feel pity for them and ask the swallow to peel off the golden leaves covering his body and give all of it to the poor. By doing so, the once golden statue of the prince is now grey and shabby. In my opinion, his decision to do so is an act of selfless that can benefit others more and that moral value is in need especially in today’s society. As example, help providing shelters for the poor.

Another moral value that I found in the story is that we should not be rude with other people. This is shown when the swallow refrain from saying that the prince is not made out of real gold out loud. In my opinion is that he did the right thing so that he would not hurt the prince feeling.

In conclusion, the story, The Happy Prince, can provide many moral values that should be practice in real life to make the world a better place.
