I believe "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" was a brilliantly executed tale of the consequences of childlike innocence in a harsh and unforgiving world. I especially enjoyed Bruno's rebellious nature throughout the film, as he maintained his own personal values and refused to accept his family's repeated attempted indoctrination of their fascist values (with the exception of his mother, of course). Given the perspective the story is told from, the lack of in-depth character development of those other than Bruno and Schmuel is understandable and I feel this would be a nit-picky portion to critique. I also enjoyed the scoring and cinematography, as there were multiple instances in which these two filmmaking aspects collaborated to create an air of suspense. This was especially apparent at the movie's conclusion, as the camera slowly retracted from the concentration camp's gas chamber and was beset with eerie music that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of the viewer. Thus, I'd rate this movie at about a 4/5.
