The ENOUGH campaign is an opportunity for LGBT communities and our allies to come together and demand an inclusive and equal society that celebrates all LGBT identities. We believe that all LGBT people should be free to express their gender identity and sexuality however they choose, without fear of discrimination or hate.

{  I have chosen this campaign because it makes it more personal to me than other campaigns. As i put the “B” in LGBTQ ;) }

The first stage of our campaign, launched on the Trans Day of Visibility (March 31st) sent a positive message of affirmation and strength from within the trans community.

The second part of our campaign, launched on IDAHOBIT (May 17th), is sending a message of support and solidarity from the wider LGBT community and beyond.

Look out for future opportunities to spread a message of unity, where lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people are standing together to affirm our identities and our right to equality.

The tools I used today were the Spot Healing Tool and also the Clone Stamp Tool.

I used the Spot healing tool in order to remove and imperfections noticeable on the skin. All I had to do was locate the blemishes and click over them making sure the size of my brush was correct. 
Secondly,  I used the Clone stamp tool in order to erase an object/ Unwanted item. To do this, I had to select [alt] and then click in a clear bit of sky which I wanted to cover the item up with. I then clicked over the unwanted item until it disappeared.

The spot healing tool is best for skin blemishes and imperfections; this might be used in magazines in order to create a perfect flawless image for example fashion magazines. The Clone stamp tool is best for getting rid of things that look unnecessary or untidy within the image. You could use this if you had any unwanted items in your image. 

I could use these tools in order to fix blemished skins and get rid of unwanted items.

WHAT IS THE MOOD OF THE IMAGE - This is a distressing image to look at as it filled with emotion though ambiance. 

HOW DOES THIS MAKE YOU FEEL - This image makes me feel on edge, the fact we can't see his face makes me think he is ashamed or wants to hide.

WHAT TECHNICAL SKILLS HAS THE PHOTOGRAPHER USED - Layers, Shadows 

WHAT IS THE MOOD OF THE IMAGE - I feel like the mood of the image is quite peaceful, the colours are nicely contrasting which makes it pleasing to the eye. 

HOW DOES THIS MAKE YOU FEEL - This image makes me feel calm, I think because there is nothing to suggest a sad or hurtful feeling or emotion.

WHAT TECHNICAL SKILLS HAS THE PHOTOGRAPHER USED - Hue/Sat, Blend modes, contrast

WHAT IS THE MOOD OF THE IMAGE - I feel like this image doesn't have a mood and it is how you see as how it is. But i was to give it a mood i'd give it calm.  

HOW DOES THIS MAKE YOU FEEL - This image makes me feel like they have just had there photo taken and dont like and wiped the face out of existence. I can relate to that .

WHAT TECHNICAL SKILLS HAS THE PHOTOGRAPHER USED - Smudge tool, B&W

In an attempt to raise awareness of the topic, Honaker says about the project: “Mental health disorders are such a taboo topic. If you ever bring it up in conversation, people awkwardly get silent, or try to tell you why it’s not a real problem. When I was in the worst parts of depression, the most helpful thing anyone could have done was to just listen to me – not judging, not trying to find a solution, just listen. I’m hoping that these images will help open up conversation about mental health issues. Everyone is or will be affected by them one way or another, and ignoring them doesn’t make things better.”

The process was quite simple to be honest, all I had to do was write on the image using the brush tool then going over it again with the mix a brush tool. 

To Improve I could plan and think it out before going straight into it, this might make it look more professional and less scribbly. 

I could use this in my project in away to represent mental health or struggle.  

The graphics tablet was fairly easy to use, after about 10 minutes it became normal to use.

The process was really straight forward. I chose the image, inverted  it, and added numbers in the colours of red and green in the style of Lynn Hershman.

To improve I could have chosen a better image to have the invert effect work better.

I could use this in my project as a way of representing not feeling human, again linking to mental health.

What tool was best for what?
A sharp pencil was ideal to make the mark on the polystyrene base, however too sharp would have put the pencil all the way through.
How could you use either in celebrating difference?
I can use this in my project as fingerprints are part of your identity and I could use them in a variety of ways.

The product I came up with was easy enough to put together. All I had to do is open Photoshop, change the image into black and white, then invert half of it. We then had to use the shapes tool in order to draw all the borders and squares, I also had to use text and align it correctly. 

To improve I could use better images. I feel like this image is not only boring, but poor quality (due to underexposure). 

I could use this in my project to show mental health, I could use work like this in order to portray thoughts.

The process was fairly easy as all the task was, was to destroy the image as shown in the Rankin Destroy project. 

To improve I feel like I would want to destroy the image even more. To do this I might rip up the paper or burn it or re order it.  

I could use this in my project as it links into identity; it distorts identity and shows personality.

In modern China, red remains a very popular color and is affiliated with and used by the Government.

I have chosen to explore culture through the use of colours in Chinatown. In contrast, Stowell Street vs Northumberland Street clearly show cultural diversity within a 5m walk of each other. “Yanse” means colour in Chinese. 

The theme I chose was culture. I chose this theme in order to do something new and explore something outside of my comfort zone. I loved exploring chinatown and the culture behind it, the vibrant colours made it easier to capture the vibe/atmosphere of the location. I also chose this theme in order educate myself a little bit and make myself more culturally aware, as chinatown in in Newcastle. Choosing chinatown was a much easier solution than going to the west end to get the Islamic culture. Which is what I would have done, as my partner is part of that culture. However the west end of newcastle is too plain and common for me to explore.

I chose the theme culture because of its vibrant colours and differences. To start with I researched Jacob James, A british travel photographer who captures people and places in the world. Themes that are common in his work are colours and textures. He shows this through a range of street photography, Portraits and Landscapes. I was then inspired to visit chinatown and explore their culture through the use of colours.  

To create my final images I used a range of tools in order to bring out the colours in my images. I used tools such as; Hut/Sat, Curves, Levels, Exposure and the brush tool. 

I feel like I had more time to do a third shoot on Chinatown my images would be much better as I believe the more shoots you do the better images you get. For example, on my second shoot I noticed much more items and colours I wanted to get photos of. It's like going with a fresh pair of eyes. 

The process was fairly easy as to edit in the style of Edward Honoker I had to incorporate the smudge tool and black and white.

To improve I was thinking on halfing the image down the middle and just having the right side of the composition so you can just see half a face and an extended eye.

I could use this in my project in order to portray the feeling of being watched, or to exaggerate not feeling human.

The process was easy. I had to take 2 photos of the same image and rip one up. I had to place the ripped up image on top of the normal one. I then turned the saturation down, in order to make the image seem more old. 

To improve I feel like I could add more ripped pieces to the bottom right hand corner.

I can use this in my project in order to show identity.

The tools I used were black and white and the spot healing tool.

I turned the image into black and white and then I took away the hand by using the spot healing tool.

The spot healing tool was best to use for this project. To improve I could take away the shadow that has been left behind, I could do this by paining over it or again using the spot healing tool. Personally, I didn't pick this up as I thought it was just a dirty screen at college.
