         <description><![CDATA[<div>How do we create a classroom where children come in expecting to engage in thinking? For all children to engage and not to feel overwhelmed is tricky.<br><br>Is it ok to enter into problem solving in maths for example where there are things that you have yet ‘been taught’?<br><br>- is the need to know in order to solve the problem is a driver for learning?<br><br>I think this approach needs careful planning though - have seen some ineffective problem solving lessons where children are cast adrift.<br><br>I am really interested in how to encourage children to stay mathematically curious - it seems that children are curious in our early years setting. What happens to this natural curiosity as children move through maths lessons in school?</div>]]></description>
