Cooperative purchasing is like public agencies joining forces to shop smarter. Instead of each one buying things on their own, they team up sharing contracts, combining orders, or forming buying groups to get better deals and make the process more efficient. It’s a practical way for governments, schools, hospitals, and others to save money and support each other

Studying for the midterm also helped me go over the public procurement and law modules, and the risk management tools we learned cleared up a lot of things I was unsure about.

This week’s lecture was a great wrap-up on competitive bidding, especially focusing on how evaluation criteria and supplier selection work. We built on what we learned in Module 8 about the RFP Scope of Work and looked at how these criteria are set before the RFP is sent out and then used in the review process. It really hit home for me how crucial a clear and fair evaluation is for choosing the right supplier. I’m also really looking forward to the Ethics and Fraud discussion in Module 14—it should be super insightful!

It gave us a chance to fine-tune our presentation skills and wrap up the reports before submitting them. We worked really well as a team, using feedback to shape our final presentation for HealthPro. It really showed me how important teamwork is for getting things done — everyone played a part, and it made the whole process smoother and more efficient.

In our group presentation on SILEX and HealthPro Canada's procurement challenges, we focused on spotting inefficiencies and offering a solution. With just eight minutes to present, we tried to keep things clear and organized. It was interesting to see how other groups approached the same topic in different ways, showing how valuable different perspectives can be. We also realized we could improve by better highlighting key points to make a stronger impact and ensure clarity

Module 13 was really eye-opening. We dived into contracts and supplier management, learning how good contracts protect both the organization and the suppliers, and how strong supplier relationships are key for long-term success. The Harwich College case study really brought things to life, showing how to negotiate with suppliers and evaluate their performance. I learned that managing contracts is more than just setting terms; it’s about keeping an eye on performance and adjusting when necessary. The module also covered non-compliant bidders and debriefing, which helped me see just how important procurement is for making smart, fair decisions
