They can be used to challenge and support learning.
Videos - share their learning in a different way.
Prepares everyone for the future.
Easy way for pupils to share and comment on work.
Great for logical thinking.
Improves communication with parents as children can easily upload things onto Seesaw.

Guidelines for usage...

Consider what to do when apps do not work or internet stops working - prevent frustration?

Discussions with chn about looking after the iPad - where it will be kept when out etc. Not on the floor/propped etc against walls etc. Consequences?

Signed agreements?

Liquids around the devices. Concern at the moment particularly as there is so much on tables due to C-19.

Think carefully about how carry the device. 2 hands?

Epic - different ability levels, access to books, safe, able to use it in lots of subjects.
Flipgrid - children share their learning
Stopmotion - create small storytelling videos.
Nearpod - lessons.
Minecraft Education .- really useful lessons there. Can also use it for things for things like creating an animal and the environment to which it is adapted.
Cuisenaire rods - has physical rods but on screen.
MathemaTIK
Book creator - creating simple books including photos - can type, speak, add photos...

Quizizz/Kahoot for checking understanding

-Readtheory as a reading comprehension tracking tool, works super well with upper grades. The children love it even though the look of the app/website isn't amazing.

-MathemaTic app (éducation.lu) that the kids use with their IAM code. The set up is a bit stressful at first (you create your class, the kids have a code to join, then there's a placement test) but great app to use on the IPADS.

-Minecraft Education (for lessons <3)

Book Creator is a great app to use for creating their own stories and retelling a story in their own words, being able to add pictures, audio and text

This would already be on the iPads, but iMovie is a great app for the children to create short trailers where they can tell short stories or perform short drama pieces, or even create a general film trailer.
