I chose this book because I read Concrete Rose last year also written by Angie Thomas, and really enjoyed it. The storyline is connected through both books. While Concrete Rose follows Maverick through high school, The Hate U Give is the story of Maverick's daughter Starr.  These books touch on many subjects such as racism and police brutality. I first picked up this book because it caught my eye. It stood out and I seemed pretty interested in it after I read the back. This book revolves around two teens- Noah and Jude. It talks about their ups and downs and journey with each other and without each other as they grow more apart over the years. This genre is realistic fiction. I hope this book is very interesting for me, as it seems to be right now. On the front cover, there's a quote- "We were all heading for each other on a collision course, no matter what. Some people are just meant to be in the same story." Tolkien and the genre is fantasy. I have read this book before, but it was a very long time ago. I decided to reread it now that I am older. I could possibly understand the words more and the context while being able to enjoy it more. This book is about a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who goes on an unexpected adventure with a group of dwarves and a wizard named Gandalf. I chose this book because it is a classic and I really like the story line. I have read the Lord of the Rings before and this is before that book takes place. I'm excited to read it.
