All you need to do is post twice somewhere on this chart (don't forget to label your post with your name): one post under the formal column heading describing just one of the formal qualities of one of the periods of art and one post under the conceptual column heading describing just one of the concepts behind one of the periods of art.

It was witty, cynical, with visual puns and scathing humor against the formal and the traditional. It took everyday objects and elevated them to the position of fine art, such as "the Bicycle Wheel, " by Duchamp and took replicas of fine art and downgraded them to the ridiculous creating outrage, such as L.Q.O.O.Q. ( the bearded Mona Lisa). It sought to go against the formal rules of art. In Dadaism, there are no rules.

Conceptually, Dadaism was a protest again the world war 1. Dadaists believed following tradition and conventional rules had produced nothing but the results of war. So they sought to go against tradition, break all the rules, and that was what they did in art. They believed the traditional order and moral, social, and political culture had lost its way and had produced war and chaos. So they embraced the irrational, irreverent, vulgar, and audacious in art. They wanted people to become uncomfortable with the acceptance of normative societal values. Readymades, such as the "Fountain" and photomontage, such as the Multi-Millionaire" are signatures of Dadaism.
