         <title>Local vs. Long distance Signaling</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The three different types of signaling are paracrine, synaptic and hormonal. Paracrine and synaptic signaling are both local signaling, while hormonal signaling is an example of a long distance signal.<br><br>Paracrine- when cells simultaneously receive and respond to growth factors produced by a single cell in their vicinity.<br>Synaptic- A neurotransmitter is used between the two cells. The signal from one cell goes through the neurotransmitter to the other cell over a small gap between the cells.<br>Hormonal. This is the long distance signaling. This is when a hormone is released into the circulatory system and the hormone makes its way around the body to reach the specific cell it needs.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In each cell there are different receptors and different chemicals that can trigger those receptors to make a change happen. If the signal does not work and match the receptor it is attempting to bond with the reaction will not take place. Everything is specific and has its specific match. One type of cell can not communicate with another because their signals and receptors are not made to transmit the same message.</div>]]></description>

The receptor can hold several signals and for each signal it has several phosphate groups it can work with at one time so it can do the work faster.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Insulin usually uses a tyrosine- kinase pathway to move to and from places in the body. When a person has type ll diabetes they have less insulin receptors. There is also a reduced sensitivity towards the insulin and a lack in signal strength. This means that the cells cannot use insulin that is produced from the body and it needs insulin with a different makeup for it to register in the cells.</div>]]></description>
