My mum read the question 3x
and my dad read only once and his comment was it was so easy but only thing was hard was to read the question. My dad used algebra and then he used guessed how old was the small brother's age and he didn't know that it was sterategy. My mum's comment was if the smaller brothers age wasn't limited by 4, it will be more difficult. My parent finished it by two minutes

I did not understand the strategy mum used. My mom said that she used the process of elimination with the 2 possible answers.

My Dad did it in about 1-2 minutes. He first wrote brother little and brother big. Then he wrote mum and dad. He started with Brother young. Because the ages were whole numbers brother young could only be 2 or 4. He Thought that 20 was a bit young for a mother so he thought that the young brother could only be 4. Then he calcuolated the brother big must be 8. After that he wrote 8x5 and that was 40 for mum. Then he added 2 plus 40 so the dad was 42.
