How to address and prevent inappropriate behaviour in schools. It indicates that boards should policies on progressive discipline, bullying intervention and prevention. It also connects to equity and inclusive education. It also asks admin to consider tougher consequences for students who engage in bullying behaviour - particularly if the bullying is motivated by bias, prejudice or hate (can be criminal acts). The Education Act enforces the fact that we need a learning centre for students who are suspended more than 5 days & up to 5 days you can send a homework package home. Goals around promoting a positive school climate (include in multi-year plan, BIPSA & SIPSA). Principals now must relate any incident of bullying reported by a board employee. Parents/Guardians need to be part of the conversation. The Principal should also look at community supports for bullying prevention & intervention. Every 2 years there is supposed to be a school climate survey. Student voice needs to be reflected and permitted in equity and inclusive education. Boards and principals are not able to prevent schools from calling a committee GSA. Any third party that uses school space must abide by this Bill.
