He has worked as a band director and elementary school principal and, at the district level, held roles as a director of fine arts and director of IT and operations. More recently, Jack Zamary served as assistant superintendent and then superintendent of Monroe Public Schools. He now helps the district attain operational and student-focused goals as an educational consultant. Jack Zamary has earned several honors and recognitions throughout his career, including awards for Arts Administrator of the Year and Distinguished Service to the Profession from the Connecticut Music Educators Association and Connecticut Art Educators Association respectively. He has also developed model curriculum for the Connecticut State Department of Education and developed improved teacher evaluation systems, a topic he explored in his doctoral dissertation at Southern Connecticut State University.
