These are two facts I learned about waves. My first fact I learned is that waves don't move forward but they move up and down. The second fact is that waves break when they get near the shore. Waves do that because when they get close to the shore they don't have enough room between the sea floor and the surface of the water to go up and down. Finally, waves are created by a disturbance in the water. I know that because when I look at a boat in the water behind the boat the water is going up and down more often. ~Joel~

Waves are an interesting topic. Although it seems like waves are just flowing water and that is a boring topic , waves are really fun to learn about. I have recently learned about waves myself, so I will tell you two facts I found interesting while learning about them. The first fact I want to tell you is waves do not actually go forward. They actually move in an up and down motion, although it may not seem. It is because of a disturbance. It is like the ocean is playing an optical illusion right before our eyes! The last fact I want to tell you about is that the reason waves go higher as the come closer is because the sand pushes in up as it goes closer to the land. I do not know if you agree but I think waves are fun. Especially when your surfing! - AE

Another fact is that people ride the waves and sometimes they wait for bigger waves but they are still riding waves but the are very small.A wave is made by something colliding with the water then it makes a splash and it makes like a circle around you then it spreads in the ocean.

One interesting fact that I learned about waves is that a wave is water that is disturbed causing a movement of up and down and keeps repeating that same exact movement. Another interesting fact that I learned is that if you are waiting for a wave in the ocean you will not move forward because the water does not push you it just keeps an up and down motion so therefore you will not move. I know it looks like you are moving but it's like an optical illusion going into your eyes. It is not like in movies like you will go by the ocean. Those are my two interesting facts about the ocean. ~Mya Smith~

Another fact is when the wave gets close to the beach, it gets tall. Some of the water"breaks" or curls over and falls toward the front of the wave. - Candace Thorpe
