I also discuss a few ways in which current issues can be addressed within the current system. The goal of this paper is to lay out all the available information to educate the readers on the drugs current status as well as allow them to make their own hypothesis on whether appropriate steps are being taken.

The most obvious of solutions is taking political action. A large reason for why there is so little R&D on marijuana is because the federal government in many countries has outlawed the drug, and in the case of the United States, labeled it a schedule one drug on the level of heroin and LSD. These drugs are said to have no medical benefits therefor do not require research for medical purposes. 

Another solution I identify is the increase regulation of the substance in order to better control the prescriptions of the drug as well as restrict the illegal use at the same time. Regulation through legislation will give government the power to create a positive climate with users and medical professionals alike rather than turning a blind eye and allowing disorganization to ensue through loopholes and misdiagnoses.

There has been very little research on the long term effects of using the substance, which leaves the general public with a lack of information regarding the health effects that may surface for users. 

Regardless of research, it is a known and verified fact that smoke of any kind entering your lungs is bad for your health. Specifically for your respiratory, circulatory and immune systems.
