My Passion for Health & Fitness by Zoe

Over the past few years, I have slowly started to care more about how I am moving my body and what is going into it. It started as a small hobby, but quickly grew into a lifestyle that will continue to grow.

I used to not really consider the things going into my body and how it was affecting me mentally and physically. For the past year or so, I started following the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time, I am eating whole, natural foods, and cooking everything myself so I know exactly what is going into my body. Obviously, it is very hard to eat this way every single day, which is where the 20% part comes in. 20% of the time you can treat yourself, which really helps to not break your discipline and binge eat during your 80% part. This has helped me reach my fitness goals as I am properly fueled throughout my days, I feel happier and less stressed overall because I am not putting chemicals and processed food in my body, and another plus is I am learning to cook!

Fitness! This is something that took me a very long time to understand. No matter what kind of fitness your doing, as long as your moving your body, it is a workout. For me personally, I started walking around 10,000 steps a day, doing a pilates class 2-3 times a week, and lifting weights about 2-3 times a week depending on how my body is feeling. Always listen to your body and never push yourself too hard. I found this is right for my own body, but it may not be right for someone else's. This has obviously helped me physically, but what I really noticed is how much better my mentality was getting throughout my days and I am becoming a happier, less stressed person.

My name is Zoe Clark and I am from Saint Louis, Mo! I am majoring in communications and hoping to get a job in sales. Eventually, I would want to start my own company with something involving health and fitness. My dream is to open my own pilates studio with a smoothie/snack store connected. I think it is really important to start at a younger age becoming knowledgable over health and fitness because I truly believe that is the solution to helping/curing many of the mental and physical problems people get within their lives. My goal is to teach others about why these things are so important, what they could be doing for their own bodies and minds, and overall creating a community where we all work together to meet these goals.
