Someone struggles with saying what he or she wants to say correctly and consistently
2. Stuttering: also known as stammering, this occurs when the flow of speech is disrupted by involuntary repetitions and prolongations of sounds, syllables, words, or phrases
3. Dysarthria: occurs when the muscles that are used to produce speech are damaged, paralyzed, or weakened
4. Lisping: when a person misarticulates sibilants
5. Spasmodic Dysphonia (SD): more of a voice disorder and it is when involuntary spasms in the muscles of the voice box or larynx
6. Cluttering: a rapid rate of speech, rhythm, and poor syntax/ grammar thus making speech difficult to understand
7. Muteness (Selective Mutism): an absence of speech and/or sounds while maintaining the ability to understand the speech of others
8. Aphasia: affects a person's ability to express and understand written and spoken language
9. Speech Delay (Alalia): refers to the phenomenon when a child is not making normal attempts to verbally communicate

Where do these students receive their education?
Children with speech/language disabilities, ages 3-21, can receive their education in the public school system under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
