Some people might think that to be an insider you would have to be apart of gang. I think that when you are an insider you are known to the people around you as someone important, or apart of a group that appreciates you. Versus being an outsider you would probably be ignored and treated differently then "insiders" making you seem like an out-cast or "outsider".

I believe that an outsider is someone who doesn't fit within society whether it be because of the way they act, or because of the way other people or society as a whole judges them. An insider is someone who fits in, maybe because of the trends they follow, the people they hang out with, their education and occupation, and the way they act. The key component of an insider vs an outsider is also what appears to be the difference in the book: the area they grew up in, and most importantly, their upbringing and the amount of money in their upbringing. These are all just the different reasons why the Greasers and Socs are fighting in the book, as well as the way your background changes your status.

I think being an outsider is someone who doesn't share any common experiences or social behaviors with other people. What I mean by this is if you were possibly the new student in a town, you could feel like an outsider because everyone else has the common experience of living in the same town for a long period of time. On the other hand, if you were in class with the same people for many years and a new student suddenly showed up, you might feel like an insider because you already somewhat know everyone, the way they act, and the norms. I think an outsider could be defined in smaller circles, not just society as a whole because even if you are with 2 other people you can feel like an outsider. But with society, you could feel like an outsider if you do things as simple as dressing differently or being tall because that would be someone's first impression of you. However, the "insiders" in the situation are really what determine whether you could be labeled an outsider or not because it's easier to feel accepted by people who are friendly and at least seem to make an effort to versus people who are cold and judgemental. (Like with the people in the story about the wall.)

I think that insiders are the group of people who are accepted into society, sometimes they worked for it, and others just started on the inside because of their parents, or the way they look. Alternately oursiders are the people who aren't accepted into society because of a thing they did (usally to an insider), there looks, or their parents. People on the inside have a better life, with less worries and a happy lifestyle, when outrsiders a harder lifestyle, with many of the probily getting bullied.

I predict that Pony (the main character) will lose one of his friends or family because of the Socs being way too aggressive on the lower class of society. The reason for this may be that the Socs don't like them or Pony's friend or family member insulted them in some way and they took it too far. Another reason could be that the Socs accidentally killed one of them while trying to tease and scare them so they never mess with the Socs again.

When I hear the word "outsider" Immediately think to myself in a way, because I often do not fit in to many groups because of my fairly "non-extreme" energy which is seemingly odd in some ways to others. While this is clearly not an issue for many there definitely a lot of people who have felt like an outsider. being an outsider while yes is quite lonely also gives a perspective of a person with an open mind for everything as they are not yet a part of anything.
