In this state of mind Muller is and acts how an audience member would expect a grieving father to act. Due to his ethnicity being British Asian I would argue that as a group we were defying conventions as most main character in thrillers are not of British Asian ethnicity, but normally of a caucasian background. This is, although it turns out a negative one, an open representation of a character with mental health. This is not conventional of a thriller as it is rare that the antagonist is also the protagonist at the same time. This really shows two sides of the character and causes the audience to warm to Muller as he is portrayed as the protagonist, adding to the shock when the reveal is made of Muller's mental health problem, highlighting that he killed his own daughter but does not realise that he has done so. Due to his young age i feel we accomplished this. As a janitor he is also not particularly wealthy which is potentially relatable to the majority of people. He is not wearing any branded clothing which goes along with the fact that he's not wealthy and also as a brooding murderer. The framing we used for almost the whole film doesn't show Muller's face, this leaves him as a mysterious character, which is a conventional thriller trait. The lighting we used is not conventional as we used much brighter lighting, rather than the usual darker. This is due to the fact that the audience is not supposed to know anything about Muller from our opening other than the fact that he has some link to this girl, which is why he is becoming a janitor in the school. Huntley was a caretaker who murdered two girls and then persisted to help the police. As well as this he would offer kind words to one of the fathers of the girls he murdered. This ties in with Muller who is portrayed in two different ways; as the victim and as the villain.
