Before Barbie, children's dolls resembled the bodies of children, not grown women with excessive features. This is a time when, "women sought equality and small breasts were king". So then the question comes up, did Mr. Ryan create Barbie as yet another way for women to be self-conscious and nothing more than male property? Are women not meant to be more than pretty?

It is sad that movie producers and advertisers show women off in such ways and not men, but in reality of the norm, there are men who are sexualized publicly while its a sin to publicly sexualize a women. An example would be the school dress code issues. It is wrong for girls to show their shoulders but it is ok for guys. Society norms get very confusing.
