Having a question pool available at the beginning of a presentation for students to add questions to throughout, in case they don’t want to speak up in the moment and the question can be addressed at the end.

One of my instructors this semester included a question at the beginning of the semester if there was anything we wanted her to know about ourselves that would help her be a better instructor. And it was optional whether we wanted to share anything at all. That was the first time I had been asked that and appreciated it.

This goes for a lot of these categories - sharing slides in multiple ways (including having some in print), so learners can mark them up or follow along.

I try to be aware that in many cases folks are attending these sessions voluntarily on top of everything else they have to do so keeping that in mind when thinking about different levels of participation that they might be capable of at that time

Reminder methods

Giving students an option for a reminder of what was spoken during the interaction. Email, post it, etc. it’s easy to forget at soon as you walk away after an encounter

Preferences

Depending on the kind of interaction, ask if they want to stand or sit, if they want to use their device or follow along on theirs. Do they want to drive or do they want to watch? Do they like verbal instructions or do they want to see how to do it? Do they want to take notes?
