There are many websites that parents can access through the internet. Some site are free and at cost to down load materials. There are crafts and read that parents can do with their child and many other project that they can do. I use family literacy resources to promote family time and to provide an opportunity for language and vocabulary development for the child. "I Care" is one of the family literacy resource that I use as it helps low income families engage in family time, because the project does not require a lot of supplies, but it requires a lot of talking. It supports oral language and literacy by having the family ask and respond to questions and to do an activity together each week.  The benefits it provides is for families  to

spend time together communicating and working on a project.  Resources can be accessed at www.icarenow.com There is a fee in which the booklets can be purchased.

Communication with Teachers, Do home work. it can help the low income families to do their application on line and help their children with their home work. Introducing new words everyday and reading book. parents well  benefit of by setting goals for their children. You can fine it at your nearest chapter house. any where there is internet available . They are free.

Also, you will find icare curriculum (http://icarenow.com) this curriculum involves both parents and teachers positive interactions throughout the month, focusing on different concepts. Recommended books are listed and most of the activities include singing, counting, walking, etc. with alot of dialect to further knowledge.

Adeehoniszin Dooleel Curriculum is another oral language strengthener. Conversations are encouraged to be converted in the Navajo language throughout daily routines. For example, greetings, during bus route, meal times, daily hygiene, etc.

All mentioned above are free to enrolled students and families in our program, a part of theclassroom and daily routines. The next literacy development i want to present is a class program devised to utilize the books in our storage that i can never read all throughout one school year. Therefore, books have been divided to 4 books per bag and are available to take home weekly. Bags donated by different departments. Books come through head start and also donations by certain community members. Sad to report that some books have been lost the past few years. I have yet to devise a plan to keep our books within our classroom and future students and families.

A Book from Dolly Parton Imagination Library is given to all students on a  monthly basis. For this month it is  Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see? Providing repetitive reading emphasizing colors and patterns.

Worksheets that can be found at www.1plus1plus1plus1equals1.com to complete with parents through out the week. On Thursday all the completed assignments are recorded.

At the end of the month depending of how many activities were finish the children can chose prizes from the classroom Treasure Box.

All materials are free to the parents and children.
