My parents doesn’t want me to follow in their footsteps when it comes in terms of career. My parents didn’t have the opportunity to study and find a decent job that they are passionate about. I have many talks with my parents regarding my career as I grow up. honestly, I agree and disagree about parents putting pressure to their children because it can go either two ways. One, they could pressure their kids into. Working hard in school so they could have a good job and can make a living out of it; be successful and happy. Or it can go downhill by the child not wanting to work hard to get a decent Job. I’m leaning more on the side that parents should pressure their kids because now in days, everything is getting more expensive. Our economy is growing, supplies are scarce, and technology is evolving. All this impacts every single one of us. If parents don’t pressure their kids into working hard in school to get a good job that pays enough and there happy in, then most likely, they are not going to survive in the future.
People I our society who doesn’t conform will most likely be terminated or dismissed by the government. These types of people might be thrown into jail for any reason the government could find. I say the government because the government wants people to obey, so there could be order. People who don’t comply will be elimated, because that what the government does to keep order in their communities. This reminds me of the movie “divergent” because if you don’t do what is asked of you, they will see you as a threat and eliminate you. It is easy to be a nonconformist because everyone is different and we all have different ideas. This is why we came up with the idea of “brainstorming”. Brainstorming is when we have a problem and we think of ideas and share them with others to come up with a solution.

Question and answer: 3:

• Until I began to build and launch rockets, I didn’t know my hometown was at war with itself over its children and that my parents were locked in a kind of bloodless combat over how my brother and i would live out lives” (Homer 1)
Straight off the bat, this quote stands out to me because it shows me how parents constantly fight for their children’s future. As a kid, my parents always pushed me and my siblings to strive for excellence and push our limits on everything. I can always remember how there where constant fight between my parents on how to raise us to become successful in life. The quote has a powerful meaning behind it. I can relate myself to homer when he says this, besides the part of building and launching rockets. Although I don’t know if there is a war in my town about who in my town will grow up to become successful, I can constantly see it in those who are determined like homer and whose parents are constantly at each other’s throats when it comes to their education and future.

• The men crossed the tracks and I saw the glint of their lunch buckets in the tipple light, and I came slowly back to reality. They weren’t explorers on the moon, just Coalwood miners going to work. And I wasn’t on von Braun’s team. I was a boy in Coalwood, West Virginia. All of a sudden, that wasn’t good enough (Homer 33)

This was interesting to me because I often think and reflect on things that are going on in society and ponder about it some more. When I start getting lost in my thoughts, I meander my way back to my original thought. When I think the word becomes like a bubble and when I come back to reality, i have to set realistic goals for my self. I had to see the world around me. My city, my neighbors, my community and see what I can do to help to be helpful. I think in these two quotes the theme Is striving for education.

Analyze Sonny’s thoughts and feelings about family

Homer jr’s family is a roller coaster with mixed emotion for him because he has a difficulty understanding his family members as they too with him. I also feel like he cold be frustrated with his family, particularly his parents because throughout the chapters, he has learned how to balance his desire for love and attention from them. Ultimately, knowing that he won’t get close to his parents, as his dad is always at the mines and when’s he’s not he always pays attention to Jim and not him. His mother is constantly telling him that he needs to work very hard so he can go to college and not get stuck in the mines. In the book it stated that when his mother hugged him after their long talk about his future, he said he felt “unfamiliar” with his mother’s embrace. Homer was shocked and had no clue what to say. he stared at her and she sighed,“To get out of here, you’ve got to show your dad you’re smarter than he thinks. I believe you can build a rocket. He doesn’t. I want you to show him I’m right and he’s wrong. Is that too much to ask?” (Hickam, jr 44). His family isn’t really a family because it feels like he only has one parent who is helping/raising him. As i said before, his father is always at the mines and when he isn’t he’s always bragging about Jim’s achievement but never talks about Sonny. His father, i feel like, is embarrassed tot all about Sonny because of the “foolish” things he does, which causes Sonny to successfully build a rocket so that he could earn his father’s respect. After Mr. Bykovski gave Homer a box of Auks, Mr. Bykovski retorts “You want to thank me.” He nodded toward the box. “Make these fly. Show your dad what you and I did together.” My father had clearly, in no uncertain terms, told me to stop building rockets. The BCMA was now an outlaw organization. I don’t know why, but that felt good. I had the urge to hug Mr. Bykovski, but resisted it. Instead, I stood straight and tall, and said firmly, and what I hoped was manfully, “Yes, sir. You can count on me” (Hickam, jr 97).
