My name is Ereca Fajardo Talaugon, a 19-year-old from Dumlog, Toledo City, Cebu. I am currently in my second year of pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Cebu Technological University Tuburan Campus. Growing up, I didn’t come from a family that is rich in material wealth, nor were we poor. However, what makes my family truly special is that we are incredibly rich in love and support.Being family-oriented, I’ve always valued the bond we share. My parents have taught me that love, hard work, and determination can help us achieve our dreams, no matter our financial standing. This has shaped my goal to one day achieve financial stability—not just for myself, but so that I can repay my parents and allow them to see the fruits of their sacrifices and love. I dream of being successful enough to make them proud, showing them that their support was never in vain.

I chose to study agriculture because I want to make a difference in the lives of others, especially in rural communities like mine where agriculture is essential to livelihood. Through my education, I hope to learn and apply sustainable farming practices that can uplift communities and create more opportunities for people in my area.

My simple dreams are rooted in a deep love for my family and a desire to build a better future for us all. I’m driven to work hard so that one day, my success can reflect the love and sacrifices of those who have always believed in me.

"My biggest fear"

My biggest fear is being a failure. The thought of not reaching my potential, of not accomplishing the goals I’ve set for myself, fills me with anxiety. I’ve always been someone who strives to do my best, whether in school, work, or personal relationships. The idea of not living up to my own expectations, or the expectations of those who believe in me, is a heavy burden to carry.

Failure, to me, means not fulfilling the dreams I have for myself and my family. As someone who is deeply family-oriented, I fear letting my parents down, especially because of all the sacrifices they’ve made for me. Their belief in me has been a driving force, and I can’t imagine disappointing them. This fear of failure pushes me to work harder, stay focused, and do everything I can to succeed. Yet, it also sometimes paralyzes me, making me second-guess my decisions and doubt my abilities.

I know, however, that failure is often a part of success. It’s the setbacks and mistakes that teach us valuable lessons and help us grow. Despite this, my fear of failure remains a constant reminder of my aspirations and the pressure I feel to succeed. But rather than allowing it to hold me back, I try to use this fear as motivation to keep pushing forward, learning from my experiences, and striving to do better each day.

What keeps me going in life are the things that matter most to me, my family, my dreams, and the dedication I have to create a better future. My family is my anchor, providing love and support that strengthen me even in the toughest times. Their belief in me, their sacrifices, and their unwavering encouragement are constant reminders of why I work so hard. They are my source of motivation, and the thought of making them proud pushes me forward every day.

In addition to my family, my dreams also fuel my determination. I have clear aspirations, and I know that each step I take brings me closer to achieving them. These dreams are not just about personal success they are about creating a future where I can give back to those who have supported me. Whether it’s through my education or my career, I want to make a meaningful difference in the world.

Dedication is another key factor. The life I’ve been given is precious, and I refuse to take it for granted. I recognize that opportunities don’t always come easy, and the chances I take in this world no matter how uncertain are vital to my growth. Life may be tough, and the world can be cruel, but the love I receive and the goals I strive for remind me that every challenge is worth facing.

Ultimately, it’s the love, support, and the dreams I hold dear that keep me going, no matter how difficult the journey may be.
