Meanwhile the dazzlings have a more distinct mix of arena rocking electronic and slick basslines. I can actually hear the bass in their songs they're just better.

I just changed their outfits to look more alternative purely because they look cool and deserve to serve with these outfits. I also cut Arias hair just to make it more distinct from Sonatas long hair. I also gave them more distinct eye shapes because equestria girls have a LOT of same face syndrome.

So now that I watched it more recently, there's a lot of problems with the overall plot, there's too many ideas thrown together like, police brutality, racism, romeo and juliet, buddy movie, damsel in distress, snake charming as an allegory for exploitation, breakdancing snakes, the beauty of dancing, found family, etc. The movie doesn't know what it wants to be.

The worst part is that the movie is set up as a Romeo and juliet love story btwn 2 snakes named Ajar and Eva, but the 2 love interests meet for 2 minutes and dip. Now it's a buddy movie with Ajar and Gary (Eva's stoner brother) trying to rescue Eva from an evil snake charmer. Gary and Ajar have more chemistry lol.

So I am working on a rewrite that makes it more of an ensemble movie with similar plot points, with Eva, Ajar, Gary, and another character named Pitt as the protagonist group together. I renamed them (except for Pitt bc i liked that name 4 some reason) bc i didnt like their names too much. I tried to research names from North Africa with meanings that suit their character traits. There's also a snake named Micheal (now Shabaka) who is Eva's father, but we only see him for 2 minutes in the beginning. I am planning to make him more relevant to the story.

-A light musical turned dark rock opera with light and dark comedic bits about corporatism, greed and pride. Less filler but still some comedic bits like the scrapped Onclers traveling madness scene.

The tone of the movie starts all happy but plasticky and fake, like the happiness isnt real. Then the tone suddenly shifts to whimsical when we are introduced to the forest. After knowing about the forest, Thneedville looks more like it's facade is breaking apart, and the audience notices more things wrong with it. The tone slowly gets a bit darker, then rlly dark in the Biggering scene, then dark but hopeful at the end. For example, when the Lorax leaves, the rest of the scene is darker than in the actual movie, so the audience focuses on the characters on screen. The movie ends with Ted walking off with the seed, telling us that WE need to do something. If Let it grow made it into the final cut, it would be a softer more emotional sounding song, less poppy.

"The Thneedville demo" (scrapped song) shows the brainwashed and conditioned people saying that they are happy. Its more cynical. Also begins Ted's intro to his flaws. Introduces the Oncler as the absent founder. Sounds corporate and poppy despite the visuals.

In a later part of the film, when the Onceler sees the Truffla forest, he sings the scrapped "This is the place (tricky)" song, showing how initially he goes to find profit at the expense of the forest.

After failing to sell the thneed the first time, he's pretty crushed and tries to leave. He's hellbent on trying to sell. Is a bit of a smoker, but does it a lot more in Biggering. He is eventually calmed down for a short moment, and for a short time he just decided to settle down, and liked hanging with the animals in their simple life. Was content with his life but as his buissness started to get noticed, he started getting caught up in it. In the start of Biggering, he rationalized the greed. Later corrupted by his greed and pride to where that old oncler is GONE. HE'S the one at fault for his greed. He is aware of the damage he's doing, but clearly doesn't care. But the Biggering doesn't ever make him happy. Bring back "your all going to jail!" Scrapped scene just to hammer in how different he is, at least in a less darker way.

He is now old, jaded and depressed. Lost all faith in humanity. Thinks there's no point in the last seed. The green gloves tie him back to his past, and he doesn't believe that his mistakes could ever be fixed, especially with O'hare basically ruling the city. While telling the Biggering story, he looks monstrous in the shadows, but scarily human in a way because we can see his eyes. He smoked during Biggering, showing how he knows it's bad, but does it anyway. It also seems to obscure his face from everyone, but also the horrors from his eyes. Stressed about the buissness, Biggering, guilt, and with himself, denial, destroying himself and everything, but he still doesn't care. Since being stressed, he's been more angry but also obscured (figuratively and literally). His past self would be horrified. After all the Biggering and the animals left head to find a new non-radioactive and hazardous home, Pipsqueak gives the Oncler the seed, hoping that there's good in him still.

Lorax-The lorax is still wisecracking and mean, but the meanness is tined down. Gentle but firm. At first tough against the Onceler, but they eventually develop a fun buddy dynamic. At first got off on the wrong foot but gets closer. A running gag is oncler trying to offer lorax the marshmallow a few times until he finally accepts it when they are great friends. Silly little dude, but becomes very serious and doesn't hold back his words in the Biggering sequence. Genuinly protective and gentle towards animals. Heartbroken at the fact that there's nothing he can do to get through to the Onceler's head.

Onclers mom- His mom is actually supportive, but unsure about some of the situation, but still continues supporting for the sake of her son. There's a running gag of her slapping a cigarette out of his hand, saying that smoking is bad for you, hinting at something that signifies his downfall. In this story rework, it is not the Oncler's family that drives him to be successful to feel worthy, it is the Onceler himself who believes this toxic ideology, showing that anybody who looks for success to prove their self worth, no matter how good of a person they are, they are in danger of following in the Onceler's footsteps of greed rationalization.

Ted and Audrey- Ted is at first greedy and materialistic like the Onceler. He wants many gadgets and toys as said in the Thneedville demo song. Later learns and has a character arc saying that all the material stuff doesn't matter, and will only play more into a corporation's greed. His disappointed face parallels the lorax's disapointed face after hearing the full story. Ted is solely trying to get a tree because he has a crush on Audrey, showing his selfish initial motive. Whwn he listens more to the story, he's genuinely intrigued abt it. A non plastic tree that grants life? Audrey isn't Ted's older crush but his best friend/slight crush who knows abt the trees because she's a history buff. Also she's the same age as him in this rewrite.

O hare- Genuinely intimidating. Threatening to Ted. Knows about the Lorax and Onceler. Everyone knows the Onceler caused the disappearance of the Lorax, including Audrey. It's like a town folktale that isn't really taken into account by the people. By that I mean people realize what O'hare is doing, pretty much exactly what the Onceler did, despite the tale of the Onceler being s cautionary one. The Onceler is seen as a dangerous man which contributed to his isolation.

There's artificial lights on the rims of the city, shining compared to the wasteland. The wasteland is more grey than blue, getting grey-er and darker as you get farther from Thneedville. Less saturated.

Truffula forest- Whimsical and beautiful. Stark contrast to Thneedville. Brighter but not in an eyestraining way. The lighting of each scene is in a different time of day, not just day and night like in the movie. This would be done to show the varying beauty of a simple day in nature. There's truffula trees that are pink, orange, yellow, but also purple, blue and green. Many hills and waterfalls. The forest has more lighting variation throughout the day, and appears painterly like it's concept art. What I imagine the music to be, relating to the Truffula forest, would sound like "Finding Dory (main title)" by Thomas Newman.

Onclers songs-

• How bad can I be will be shorter, and only a hint to the onclers downfall while he just starts cutting the trees. Slowly distancing from the Lorax and animals as he's getting successful. It's him making excuses and convincing himself that what's hes doing isn't so bad. Its Denial. The song is poppy at first, metaphorically covering the dark intentions. This song ends, and begins more scenes of the Onceler convincing himself that this is okay, eventually segueing into Biggering, a dark hard rock opera.

• BIGGERING is the villan song where he goes from a silly simple guy to cold and uncaring. It's some time after HBCIB when the Lorax opens his eyes. The Onceler is kinda concerned about this and hesitant at first while telling himself that the profit will be worth it. He becomes successful and is getting too caught up in it to care about others. He's actually a bit sad abt the trees until he sees his fans and consumers. He puts it all off to greet the fans. It's hedonistic. Getting lost in all the Biggering while the Lorax is trying to help his friend who isn't there anymore, because he got so far that he CAN'T stop. But he sees the damage he causes, but rationalized it until it was too late. Gone too far too listen. The Lorax speech actually hurts his ego a bit. Hes trying to walk away from the Lorax, even handing him over to security. He's trying to deny him but knows he is right. He's fighting himself and actively trying to ignore his conscience. The lorax is sad that he can't save his once good friend. And terrified at the fact that ppl are cheering him on, causing him to get even more lost in the Biggering. We are part of the problem, buying things we dont need at the cost of nature. There's the green gloves of the consumers holding him up higher. After the lorax's speech and into the song's tonal shift, He gets the green suit, and is at a ceremony for him and Thneedville, surrounded by fans. Over time in the song, the visuals are darker and slowly obscures Oncler's face, taking away his humanity. The sky is red to increase drama when he's near a window. His face is covered in oil and smoke, with coins dripping from his cigar. Some animals die on screen but not too brutally for the kids. But it is on screen and brutal enough for kids to KNOW that these animals are dying because of the Onceler's actions. Like in the little match girl short from Disney. Just lifeless on the ground. The last animals that leave are dirty, greiving, and hurt with oil, smog and cuts. Some are fighting eachother for food, instead of getting along like they used to. The song calls out the entire capitalist system in the "company's an animal" bit. Starts Thneedville project to fill it with product placement. The lawyers deny his damage, framing thneeds as eco friendly.

At the end of the song, the oncler looks out to the lifeless land. Literally cant see anything with all the smog, just a silhouette of a factory. He's shaken until the Loraxs comes by, so he masks the guilt. All while you can see nothing but his eyes. Gets into argument with lorax while repressing the guilt and shame. The lighting is bolder, putting oncler in a darker shadow as the light is behind him. After getting out of his head and its all thrown back at him, his face gets less obscured as we see his regret. As the animals leave, there's a emotional musical score, what I imagine sounds like "Static" by Thomas Newman from the Wall-E original soundtrack.

"I didn't just lose the trees...I lost a good friend too. He wasn't even the oncler anymore, he was a monster. Money corrupts, and it corrupted him to the point to where he couldn't even recognize himself.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not"

"But if someone like YOU has a change in their heart, the cycle will continue until we all rot."

All of these ideas, comments and videos contributed to my idea of The Lorax.

It's the same story as 1937 but with the lesson of "strength in positivity." The new story of Snow overthrowing the queen because she's the destined ruler who would treat her people with kindness, would make a cool story, but not a Snow White story. Since it's a remake adaptation, I would want to adapt the story and add new things in may need for a contemporary tale, I would not change the entire story and purpose.

The dwarves are little people (not a separate species 😭) who happen to be miners for the kingdom's trade. They seem to be shunned from society because they look a little different, so they have basically banded together. The Evil Queen is the same, but there's a hint of sass with class 💅. She's unapologetically sadistic and vain to the point that in some moments it's comedic. Snow White is the princess turned scullery maid. Since she was young, she's always been positive and made the best of her situation with her abusive step mother. She's kind to everyone she meets and radiates joy. She doesn't nessesarily hide her sadness, she shows it, but at the end she knows everything will be alright at the end. She's even befriended the rats in the dungeon and all the rooms she cleaned. She's still very naive though. Her name is from her heart as pure as snow. Prince Florian has a bigger role. He's known Snow since childhood, a mysterious yet joyous girl who he loves to be around. He finds the responsibilities of royalty overwhelming but Snow assures him he can do it. When they have their happily ever after, she rules alongside him, they can do this together.

During her stay with the dwarves, she doesn't act like a mother but more of a sister to them. They always fight eachother while Happy always tries to calm things down and Dopey's off distracted. I do like the element of the new movie of Snow teaching Dopey how to whistle to communicate, leading to the Whistle while you Work song. Dopeys a silly Boi. But I don't like the fact that he was able to talk the whole time. In this rewrite all the dwarves would obviously have more personality than their names. They're kinda like roommates who fight all the time at the start, but Snow kinda leads them to realize that they must appreciate the good things. They only have eachother so they're all they've got. The Silly Song is also present in this rewrite. The Dwarves perform this song after learning from Snow White that joy can always be found somewhere, eventually. In this case, music! If I adapted Snow White, this is what I imagine.
