Lefika has shown pleasing improvement in her visual development this term. She is becoming more confident in observing details and using visual information to guide her learning. During classroom activities, she is able to identify shapes, patterns and differences with increasing accuracy. Her attention to visual detail is evident when completing puzzles and matching games, where she now takes more time to check and correct her work. Lefika also enjoys picture-based activities and can interpret visual cues from story illustrations with better understanding. Continued practice with visual sequencing and spatial awareness activities will further strengthen her growing skills.

Auditory Development:

Lefika is steadily developing her auditory skills and continues to show progress in listening and comprehension activities. She enjoys story time and listens with growing focus and interest. Lefika demonstrates a good understanding of the stories read to her and is able to answer questions thoughtfully, showing that she is processing and interpreting what she hears. As her confidence continues to grow, she will further strengthen her ability to follow multi-step instructions and engage more actively in group discussions.

Lefika continues to make steady progress in her gross motor skills. Although she still finds activities such as riding a tricycle, skipping rope, hopscotch and navigating obstacle courses a little challenging, she always approaches them with a positive attitude and determination. Skills that require balance, such as bucket walking, are still developing, but her enthusiasm and willingness to try are truly admirable. With continued encouragement and practice, she will continue to gain confidence and strength in her movements.

Lefika has shown wonderful improvement in her fine motor skills this year. She demonstrates great self-awareness by identifying areas she finds challenging and eagerly asking to practice them. Her perseverance and enthusiasm for learning are truly commendable. She has shown excellent progress with puzzles, confidently completing 20- and 24-piece puzzles and now beginning to explore 36-piece ones. Her pegboard work is well developed, while threading activities are still an area for continued growth, I am so proud of your progress.

Lefika has shown steady progress in her physical development throughout the year. A right eye and hand dominance have become evident through ongoing assessments. Her foot dominance is still developing, as she occasionally alternates between feet during activities. She is continuing to build her understanding of directions, as she sometimes confuses left and right but she shows a growing awareness and continuous improvement with our daily guidance.

Lefika is making steady progress in her literacy development. She has a good understanding of the phonetic alphabet and is able to identify letters and their sounds when asked randomly. However, she is still developing her ability to recite the alphabet in the correct sequence and continues to practise this skill with growing confidence. Her letter formation is improving, though she still benefits from guided tracing activities to refine her control and consistency. Lefika’s spoken language has also shown noticeable improvement—she expresses her thoughts with enthusiasm and growing vocabulary. At times, her sentences are incomplete, particularly when she gets excited to share her ideas, but with gentle encouragement and continued practice, her fluency and sentence structure will continue to strengthen.

Lefika enjoys participating in additional language lessons and shows a positive attitude towards learning new words and gestures. She is still developing her ability to recite the days of the week, months of the year, shapes and colours in Afrikaans and isiZulu and benefits from frequent repetition and visual support during these activities. She particularly enjoys learning South African Sign Language and demonstrates enthusiasm when practicing gestures. Lefika is able to identify most of the signs taught and can confidently demonstrate some of them. With continued exposure and consistent practice, her confidence and recall across all three languages will continue to grow.

Lefika is developing a strong understanding of early numeracy concepts. She is able to count confidently from 0 to 100 using the counting sheet during morning ring activities and takes great enjoyment in hands-on counting experiences, especially when using the abacus. She is currently practicing counting backwards and is showing steady improvement in this area. Lefika has a clear understanding of number concepts from 0 to 5 and is able to apply her knowledge to complete basic addition tasks using both pictures and numbers up to 10. She recognizes and correctly forms all the numerals and applies this skill effectively during math worksheet activities. With continued encouragement and practice, Lefika’s confidence and fluency in numeracy will continue to grow beautifully.

Lefika shows great enthusiasm and joy during creative arts activities. She especially loves singing and dancing, eagerly participating in musical statues, action songs and free dance sessions where she expresses herself with confidence and energy. During arts and crafts, Lefika concentrates intently on following instructions and demonstrates curiosity when exploring new art techniques. She enjoys experimenting with different materials and methods such as mosaic tearing and pasting, paper mâché, and constructing creative pieces using recycled materials. Her growing confidence, focus and creativity shine through in her work, making her a delightful participant in all creative activities.
